dks13827 3 #31 September 22, 2009 shows Joe Walker's F-104 engulfed in flames... terrible. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nEP7niGqiNg Astronaut Joe Engle was another fine pilot and astronaut........... he was bumped off of Apollo 17 by geologist Harrison Jack Schmitt. Probably a good move.. but kind of disappointing for Joe.

Probably a good move.. but kind of disappointing for Joe. The XB-70/F-104 crash was tragic. It was the end of the XB-70 Valkyrie (it probably wasn't going to be built anyway), probably the most amazing plane (as cool or cooler than the SR-71) ever flown.
