GaryRay 0 #27 September 23, 2009 Quote Quote damn you LisaH, ok so with much resentment i post my "beerline" story.... at 2k feet the winds were out of the south, at 300' the winds were dead, i turn onto final and at about 150' the winds are now out of the north. see where this is going? so i'm swooping the shit out of my sabre 2 170 now right towards the 16' blow up pool at elsinore. i'm either gonna hurt or make a splash. well with mounds of luck and some skill i manage to pop myself over the lip of the pool and at the same time as soon as my legs cleared the lip i stuck them right in and let go of my flare so it dumped me in the pool. w00t! crossed the beer line. I can't help but laugh. Very glad the pool was there and you are ok!!! So, where is the beer? Oh, and how is your gear? gear was a little soggy but i took care of that, viso is torched, good thing for customer service :). and the beer is in my stomach, i had a private party ;)JewBag. www.jewbag.wordpress.com
skymama 37 #28 September 23, 2009 Yeah, but how are we supposed to know that? I didn't see a sign or anything! Was I drinking out of a red cup? I don't remember...that's a bad sign, isn't it? She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon

jcd11235 0 #32 September 23, 2009 When I worked at Skydive Deland, I pointed out to more than one beer line violator that it would be a lot cheaper to buy me a large Guinness than it would be to buy a case of green bottles for everyone else. I drank a lot of free Guinness when I worked there! Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

theonlyski 8 #37 September 23, 2009 QuoteThats what we've got at the DZ this year. They have it wired up to a remote control so we can even set it to flashing if we want to. Ya know, the whole boogie, I dont recall seeing that thing turn green, and I checked it with a beer in my hand atleast 2 nights!"I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message
Tuna-Salad 0 #38 September 23, 2009 QuoteAt most DZ's I've been to people don't much care as long as you keep it out of sight. In a team room, in a styrofoam cup, in the bar* etc are generally not a big deal. OTOH, in front of students, out in plain sight, or before jumping can be a very big deal. (* - for those lucky DZ's that have bars on premises) So are you saying that if I have exhausted my funds for jumping by 9:00am and have opened and are enjoying a brew by 9:30 that it's wrong because others are still jumping? Surely you jestMillions of my potential children died on your daughters' face last night.

iambeav2 0 #40 September 23, 2009 My Beer Line story. Visiting Deland, was warned about the beer line. Decided to have some fun w/ it, so I come in for a downwind landing. Headed for the beer line, right towards the building, then last minute carved to the right and landed parallel to the beer line. I could here the disappointed "oh's" as I did not cross the line and owed beer. Until I left that day, the most common phrase mentioned to me was..."Yup, you almost got the line!". Not super cool story, guess you had to be there, but it was funny to me....it's not the fact that you don't appreciate what you have until it's gone...it's the fact that you don't appreciate what you have until someone appreciates it for you! Rick 67 #41 September 23, 2009 Quote You can drink all day at the dz's I go to in FL, so it took me at least 5 years to find out there actually is a light that some dz's turn on. I thought it was just a phrase like "it's 5:00 somewhere". I know what you mean. First time I ever heard of a beer light was a popular North Carolina DZ my first trip out of Fla. We finished jumping and started drinking. We get yelled at because beer light was not on they wanted us to wait til the night jumps were over to start drinking seriously at a boogie we're supposed to wait til 10pm to start drinking I don't think soYou can't be drunk all day if you don't start early! micduran 0 #42 September 23, 2009 Quote The only time this was an issue for me was when Spence saw me with a nice fresh cold one at Fitz last year. That was NOT beer. It was Bud Light with Lime!! Be patient with the faults of others; they have to be patient with yours.
