People that end a debate by calling the people that disagree with them haters...

With me it ranks right up there with pointing out a spelling/grammar error or a typo.

Is it just me or is that stupid as hell?

I think it comes from people that are SO narcissistic, that they just can't possibly imagine someone that would disagree with their "obviously" superior viewpoint.

They accomplish four things:
1 - they come up with a shallow "excuse" as to why the other person can agree with them - validating, in their minds, their position as the more logical one - making themselves feel like they are superior
2 - they belittle the other person - making themselves feel like they are superior
3 - they think they cut off the argument so they don't have to try any more - allowing them to rest and appreciate their feeling of self-wonderfulness
4 - something else - I like lists

it's really cool - everybody's doing it

edit: or......they just have chips on their shoulder and can't help but throw it out there all the time

What I dislike is someone ending an argument by saying, "whatever". Really...is that the best you can come up with? :S

Look! The most annoying word in the English language!!! :Dhttp://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/33223279/ns/us_news-life/?GT1=43001

so it's official. skymama skewed the poll.

You are so right!

It's humorous when people lack intelligence in a debate or argument...

It's just one way to end a discussion that has turned into an argument having no end.

You've been there.
"Wait a minute. This guy is not listening to a word I say. He's not hearing the common sense/logic/facts of the topic at hand. What's the point of discussing it any further?"

This is where the "Meh, hater" comes into play.

My personal favorite:
"OK, Have it your way."
My reality and yours are quite different.
I think we're all Bozos on this bus.
