jman 0 #51 October 28, 2009 Shit...ya'll lost me. I have no idea what the last few posters said. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- I read your original post & some people who you refer to with the above obviously have not. It's useless info they are providing for you. I learned on a Mac, went to PC & have returned to Mac. I have the iMac with the 20" screen. It's great! period. You sound like you want an easy to use system that is hassle free. That's an iMac. I have been part of a PC club in the past & even individuals who do their own programming recognize the simplicity of owning a Mac. You'll be happy with the Mac. faulknerwn 38 #52 October 28, 2009 Yes and No. Generally Hp's will print basic stuff ok, but as I discovered today trying to get our all-in-one HP printer scan on Snow Leopard, HP hasn't updated the drivers for most of their printers and a lot of people have had issues.. Google HP and Snow Leopard and you'll see how I spent my morning :-) Hopefully HP will update their drivers soon and get things working again.
quade 4 #53 October 28, 2009 Conversely, I print about 200 pages a week on an HP. I've been running Snow Leopard since its release. No issues. Probably depends a great deal on exactly the model and exactly what you're trying to do. Judging compatibility with forums is not really the best metric since you can have idiots logging into the forum that just don't have it plugged in and people that are trying to do things that aren't supported no matter what.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
faulknerwn 38 #54 October 28, 2009 Yeah but their are published lists on both Apple and HP's website listing printers and a heck of a lot of them which have scanners and faxes currently only support printing :-( I finally got ours to scan using vmware and Windows... Software Update just downloaded 153MB HP driver update last night. I was playing with the printer config (which I had not done previously), and it suddenly wanted the update. I get the impression that using the printer config utility may have triggered it. For scanning I always use the web interface on my all-in-one printer, so I've never had occasion to try using sw in the OS for that."There are only three things of value: younger women, faster airplanes, and bigger crocodiles" - Arthur Jones. My HP printer at home didn't have a driver for about 3 weeks after SL came out. It automatically went and got the driver when it was released as a software update.-- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
freefallfreak 0 #57 October 29, 2009 Simplicity...that's the ticket. Hassle free...sounds great. My only question now is this...does it support an HP 952C printer? I print a lot of pictures for my own personal scrapbook and altho it's an older printer, it does a great job without me having to torque anything, so I wanna' keep it. JerryBaumchen 1,466 #58 October 29, 2009 Hi faulk, I can print a letter, etc OK. I cannot get the address in the correct location on an envelope. It looks OK just before I hit the PRINT but then it prints on the other end of the envelope. H-P has emailed me that they do not have a driver for my DeskJet 5550 printer. As for Command END, I'll try it; but END / HOME does not work the same as on a PC. Some people prefer blondes & some people prefer redheads. I'll stick with what I have for awhile and see how it goes. Now, if all of you Mac users will just say a little prayer for me . . .
