riddler 0 #1 October 29, 2009 People that use the 'net television service Hulu, you'll have to start paying out, beginning next year, according to a new report. My guess is user base will drop off considerably after the change, then slowly ramp back up. I remember when cable television came out - people asked why should they pay for it, when broadcast television is free. These days, very few homeowners use broadcast television. But I also remember when cable didn't have commercials Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD
normiss 866 #2 October 29, 2009 Given the amount of advertising on there, I highly doubt this to be true. Reminds of all the FaceBook will start charging rumors.
riddler 0 #3 October 29, 2009 I see it as comparable to a Cable Television model, which has both advertisements and a subscription service. They did quote the Deputy Chairman of News Corp, and it hasn't been approved by the board yet, so it may not happen.Trapped on the surface of a sphere. normiss 866 #4 October 29, 2009 I had read it too. Seriously, the interwebs is a whole different animal when it comes to advertisements. A very large percentage of web users still see it as a sort of "wild west" and try to not pay for anything. I've even heard rumors that this web site will use ads someday. Tiger6513 0 #6 October 29, 2009 Thats Bullshit if they decide to start charging. I watch Hulu all the time and there are commercials... if they would decide to charge do you really think those commercials would go away?? I doubt it!Travis Roy Foundation. downwardspiral 0 #8 October 29, 2009 The day I can get all my programming over the internet onto my tv in HD is the day I'll pay for tv online. Mainly what I'll miss is my sporting events. I can find live streams but normally the quality is shite. Oh yeah I already have Netflix which I can steam to my xbox 360.www.FourWheelerHB.com
Harmless 0 #9 October 29, 2009 Hulu is a business and is welcome to charge for their services. As it stands now I wouldn't pay for them though. Create new streaming software and add more premium content and I'd consider it."Damn you Gravity, you win again"

They've moved a few times. The court case is awaiting appeal.
