point_code 0 #1 June 27, 2005 Jump Shack put out a notice re-designating the older racers with single strand main lift webs for round canopies only. does anybody know if the factory can make the main lift webs safe for square canopies again? or would a rig like this just be a bad investment? mjosparky 4 #2 June 27, 2005 The rigs covered by the SB are at least 8 year old and would have to have other work done to bring them up to par with what is maufactured today. You would be better off buying something a little newer. jmo SparkyMy idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
point_code 0 #3 June 27, 2005 do you have any idea how much this work might cost? The price on the rig certainly seems to be right.

Absolutely correct - adjustable single strand MLW's - for that read old student rigs where the main lift webbing can be adjusted to fit each student. It is highly unlikely that you are being offered one of those. In the REALLY unlikely event that you are being offered an old student rig, they can, indeed, be modified to a pulley system but at a substantial cost. Check with Jumpshack on the price of a new harness container, you may be pleasantly suprised..Pete Draper, Just because my life plan is written on the back of a Hooter's Napkin, it's still a life plan.... right? riggerrob 643 #6 June 28, 2005 Jump Shack is subtlely telling people to retire their old Student Racers (more than 8 years old). Round reserves fell out of fashion in the late 1980s ... anyone hear of acid mesh? And any Student Racer that has been jumped on a regular basis will be tired after 8 years. By the same token, Strong insists that tandem gear be returned ot the factory for inspections when it is 8 and 13 years old.
