quade 4 #3 November 3, 2009 I'd feel a lot better about it if the tops of the cylinders had been turning outward from the machine rather than inward. Looking at it the way it was just gave me the willies.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

captain1976 0 #5 November 3, 2009 Wow, I think I will build one, maybe a smaller version using a lawn tractor. Maybe it will work on water too.You live more in the few minutes of skydiving than many people live in their lifetime

I recall years ago seeing an article about a much smaller machine being proposed for military use in swamps, lakes, and rivers. Seeing how well this thing works in snow makes me wonder why it didn't catch on."There are only three things of value: younger women, faster airplanes, and bigger crocodiles" - Arthur Jones. JohnRich 4 #8 November 3, 2009 Very neat. I've seen those worm screw pontoons like that used on similar machines for transportation through mucky swamps.

There's still plenty of ways to get killed by it, but I would have thought that something that obvious would have occurred to its inventor/test pilot.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

Only my opinion but, I don't think it's a very efficient method of imparting movement. Too much weight, too much friction, & too difficult getting power to the tubes. Too inefficient compared to a track, plus you can't use it on hard surfaces. When the only tool you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail.
