Halloween candy your kids collected

Recommended Posts

So, what's your policy on that bag of teeth-decaying goodies?

Luckily, my older girl is only 3 1/2 years old so she hasn't developed a fanatical love affair with candy yet. But after trick or treating, I let her have a piece of candy, sometimes two, or as a reward for finishing her dinners, a day, and the bag stays hidden somewhere in the kitchen cabinets.

Oh yeah, and I get half of the candy. ;)

I let my girls (8 and 12) have a piece when they get home from school, and a couple after they have finished dinner. As for me eating it, I am on a diet, and trying to slow down my fall rate:D

I've gone from a 1.1 to a 1.4 on my sabre in the past year. Canopy is more fun to fly, but getting my fat ass in and out of the harness is a pain in the ass, and I sit on the fuel selector in the cessna.:D[:/]

Actually, candy was originally invented for adults and I think you should take all away and eat it yourself. I personally contributed to my Niece and Nephews dental health by eating a bunch of theirs the other night. :)

I pretty much let my son gorge himself (within reason) for one weekend day, and pretty liberal for 1-2 evenings. Then the candy would go away.

Every now and then we'd forget and leave the candy bowl on the coffee table, and the dog would get into it. Every Hershey's kiss would be sucked dry, along with other chocolate. 1-2 pieces of gum would have tooth marks, but it clearly was a passing fancy. And every single pack of Smarties would be open, and the Smarties spread all over the floor -- she just couldn't figure those out!

My husband and I made some poor parents' jobs worse this year. We were waiting to leave the house ourselves, but wanted to get rid of the rest of our candy so it wouldn't be there, tempting us to eat it. The problem was, no kids were coming so we went reverse trick-or-treating and found a neighbor who was walking his kids home. We dumped the rest of our candy in his kids' bags. THEY were thrilled. Who knows what Mom and Dad actually ended up doing about it! I hope they get to eat a lot of it.

I made the mistake last night of letting him take the container out and set it on the table. I was busy playing in my cafe(FB game) and was wondering why it was so quiet in the house. I looked over and sure enough he was sitting at the table eating candy for what had to be a good 20 minutes. 10 wrappers of starburst, 2 reeses peanut butter cups, a snickers and gum. He was not allowed to have candy for three days. I know I am a mean mean mean person...

Using candy as a reward can result in her developing a poor relationship with food. Just sayin'. ;)

Granted yes, but I don't do it very often.

Like Wendy, I am pretty liberal the weekend of Halloween. Then they seem to forget about it.

I came across their Easter Baskets that still had candy in it.

So I agreed to leave the Reeces and a few other pieces and take the rest to work.

We are not big candy eaters in my house. They haven't asked for or had a single piece the last two nights.

I also couldn't agree with Skymama more. We NEVER reward with food... we get stickers and fun stuff.

The reward for the 8yr old is his allowance. If he does everything he is supposed to do he gets 5 dollars every two weeks and 10 if he does extra things on his own around the house. I dont reward with food items either. Extra stay up time is a foot massage or shoulder massage. I get those almost nightly. :D
