Harksaw 0 #1 June 21, 2005 Are these available commercially anywhere? Or are they all homemade? Apologies if this is the wrong forum.__________________________________________________ I started skydiving for the money and the chicks. Oh, wait.
AggieDave 6 #2 June 21, 2005 Do you want the rack to be fixed to a wall or on a movable cart?--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
masterrig 1 #3 June 21, 2005 We have two, at our DZ. They were both made by local welders to our specs. They're on wheels and work quite well. As I recall, they weren't outragously high priced, either. Contact a welder in your area and see what you can work out. Chuck
AggieDave 6 #4 June 21, 2005 We used wood and then pipe flanges and pieces that were threaded. As much as I prefer to work in metal, wood was just significantly cheaper to use.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." masterrig 1 #5 June 21, 2005 Sounds like a good set-up. We 'lucked-out'. One of our jumpers, who is a welder, built them and 'donated' them to the DZ. The type you suggest sounds in-expensive and quite good. Chuck
riggerrob 643 #6 June 22, 2005 Al the rig racks I have seen were welded, screwed, glued, etc. by local craftsmen. I can send you sketches of several rig racks I have worked with at various DZs. I am picturing something with 2 inch diameter steel tubes with chains and locks hanging out the ends of the tubes.
mr2mk1g 10 #7 June 22, 2005 If you want one on the wall see here: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=834406#834406 for a nice easy example. It would have been easy to have included a chain locking system during the construction if you wanted one. (edit: a brief description of it's construction is 2 posts down)
