ltdiver 3 #1 November 19, 2009 Cleaning the garage can be fun, it seems. Haven't done it in years, and it seems the rafters for over 20 years! Little history . . . I bought this house from my grandparents, who lived in it since 1976. They bought it from an 80 year old lady, who was the first owner. Anyone identify this poster? Only research I've found (on one web page) says it's of Jack Benny's promo for Texaco gas. Inspired by a WWI recruiting poster. But what's the rest of the story? Are these of any value? I have 2 of them, in decent shape. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
BillyVance 35 #2 November 19, 2009 You might contact the Antiques Roadshow, either through the website or via PBS and send that picture to them."Mediocre people don't like high achievers, and high achievers don't like mediocre people." - SIX TIME National Champion coach Nick Saban

Might get a chuckle or two. Their web site, however, doesn't have a way to send a picture with the story. Ah well. If they're interested at least a little bit I'm sure they'll contact me back. Wonder if I should put them on ebay and see what happens . . . Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
iluvtofly 0 #4 November 19, 2009 I wouldn't put them on ebay without first knowing their value. You wouldn't want to sell them then find out a week later they're worth 3 times what you sold them for.

This web blog post from 2005 lists a value of $54. http://www.oldgas.com/shoptalk/ubb/Forum4/HTML/000992.html ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
jumpwally 0 #6 November 19, 2009 A friend of mine inherited all the belongings of an aunt who died at 92,,,it was mostly junk. Three felt banners caught his eye,,he was about to pitch them but threw them on a shelf and forgot about them for a year or so. While cleaning out the garage his wife suggested getting a proffessional appraisal,,,it turns out they were World Series Pennant type banners from the 30's,,,I think at an auction house like Sothbys,,they sold for about 28k each,,,unbelievable. You just don't know your luck.....smile, be nice, enjoy life FB # - 1083
