BillyVance 35 #26 January 6, 2009 I was just wondering why in the hell that every time I type in "AVG" in the browser http line or the google search box, it instantly shuts IE down? I mean, what the fuck... PhreeZone 20 #29 January 6, 2009 If you have something that is closing your browser every time you search for AVG you still have some infection on the system potentially. I'm done giving IT advice to people that don't want to follow the help I am trying to give them. normiss 892 #31 January 6, 2009 +1 I got to the point some time ago - when people ask if I know anything about computers, cars, or motorcycles...I typically respond "no, sorry" and continue to enjoy the peaceful, carefree times in my life.
BillyVance 35 #32 January 6, 2009 All right, all right. Obviously something is still in my computer since ANYTHING related to antivirus, AVG or whatever that I type in the search boxes or http lines shuts IE the fuck down. I even typed www.avg.com in the http line. BAM. Instant shut down. I'm listening now. Spends all day fixing up peoples computers. One of the first things he did on mine was instal AVG. He also used adaware and spybot free versions on it. I don't seem to have any problems on my home computer, except that it's old and crappyWatch my video Fat Women http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRWkEky8GoI
BillyVance 35 #36 January 6, 2009 My problem right now is that all that I've been given in this thread that I can get free are the names of the products. This does me no good because every time I search for those products IE shuts off. I need actual clickable links to the FREE download sites. That is all. And I did NOT need Security System to somehow latch itself BACK into my computer again just a day after I deleted it. Fuck.... And no, I haven't seen any porn in a while. The111 1 #39 January 6, 2009 Quotetry SPYBOT or ADAWARE. Both are free, and between the two of them, get rid of 99.9% of the malware and spy programs out there. And, like someone else said previously, AVG is great anti virus software, and like spybot and adaware, is free. I haven't paid for any anti virus or spyware programs in years. My fiancee got the virus mentioned in this thread on her laptop despite having Avira installed (I used to use AVG but when they switched from version 7 to 8, I think, something about it pissed me off and I dropped it). Neither Spybot or Adaware were able to stop it, I had to use Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware as previously suggested.www.WingsuitPhotos.com
BillyVance 35 #40 January 6, 2009 Quote AVG or download.com/avg Dude, thanks for trying... I clicked the 2nd link and it shut IE down. Damn.... I am now trying it manually, by typing in www.download.com, and then going to the specific link... hope it works that way."Mediocre people don't like high achievers, and high achievers don't like mediocre people." - SIX TIME National Champion coach Nick Saban

Pinna 0 #43 January 6, 2009 Try downloading the programs from an uninfected computer, burn to CD or flash drive, install from that. That bug will shut down any links to AV sites.

PhreeZone 20 #45 January 6, 2009 You wouldn't listen to us yesterday so why should we help you today? The threat is blocking your access to the security websites. Odds are its either Vundo or Conflicker. I'll upload the install file and the latest update on my website for you to access and download since it will not be blocked. I still don't know why I am helping. Install all your Microsoft patches, Conflicker installs if you are missing MS08-067 off the system. tigra 0 #48 January 6, 2009 When I had problems last month, it took several tries to get Webroot to run all the way through, and then a couple more to clean everything up. That was some kind of trojan along with a ton of spyware. I purchased/installed the Webroot AFTER I realized I had a problem- I had let the McAfee that came with the computer expire so it let the virus in out of spite! Good luck! I also know someone who wasn't able to repair his computer after clicking "yes" on one of those official looking links, and he had to buy a new one. BillyVance 35 #49 January 6, 2009 Quote Well, thanks for continuing to try. I am currently downloading AVG 8.0. Its still in progress. I'll report back on how it went. Well here's the report: I was able to complete the AVG 8.0 download. Free, my ass! There's always a catch. Sign up for one of their partner companies' services, make a purchase through them, and then I can get the license for AVG free.... That's not the only problem. I then double-clicked the AVG self-extractor file to start the process of setting it up. It quit after about halfway through the extraction process. I tried it like 10 times, every time it quit without completing. This is all new to me, mind you... So what now?
