ridestrong 1 #3 December 3, 2009 Finally someone posted this... if I am referring to the pie I say pea-can or pea-con. If I'm talking about just the nut I say p'con. At least I think that's how I say it, but now I'm wondering if I've over thought this. I have a buddy who says Pitchburgh instead of Pittsburgh and it drives me nuts. Also the correct saying of this common phrase is: "I couldn't care less." NOT "I could care less."*I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----
silent_pumpkin 0 #4 December 3, 2009 I use 2 ways to say 'pecan': Pea-can pie and Puh-cahn (when referring to pecans by themselves) ....I guess the answer to your poll is Pea-can, if just referring to pies...
DavidB 0 #5 December 3, 2009 Pcan (one syllable) I've had pecan pie, from nuts picked from local trees, when I lived on Pecan Drive in Alamogordo, NM (GF's older son still lives there). When the only tool you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail. MikeJD 0 #6 December 3, 2009 We're not really much for pecan pies over here, but I know it as the colour of my living room walls. It's how paint manufacturers like to describe light brown. I say 'pea-can', with the emphasis on the first syllable, but a clear 'a' sound in the second.

NovaTTT 2 #11 December 3, 2009 However I want. Because...In freshman year (1982), over Thanksgiving break, a friend and I went to central GA and picked the little bastards to earn drinking money. We worked our asses off and it's hard-on-the-back work. We were paid a lot more than we expected and had funds to buy a large supply of CC that lasted almost the entire year. After drinking the aches and pain away, I vowed that I will call pecans whatever the hell I want. I also vowed never to drink again, but that was a lie told again and another story.
