jf951 1 #1 December 3, 2009 so one of my whuffo friends, who definitely knows more about skydiving than i ever will (sarcasm), claims hes seen footage of someone landing a wing suit into a lake(body of water). "he flys in, simply rolls his arms legs and shoulders forward (pretty much de arching) in doing so it stands him pretty much up right (as if hes walking) also causing him to gracefully get lift and stall out just above the water then splashing in." as described by him. i told him hes full of shit, but he keeps bringing it up and wont drop it. he insists "i know what i saw, and thats what i saw" so?? what do u guys think...i need some back up....Jump more, Bitch less. No. Nothing like that has ever been done. If it had, there would be 57,000,000 videos of it on YouTube (all of them sponsored by RedBull) and would be not just easy to find, it would be nearly impossible to avoid.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

SkyBastard 0 #11 December 3, 2009 i can trump that having spoken to someone who claims that wingsuits can be landed, on land. not the brightest of sparks though, best just to agree after a while and offer them another biscuit.Dude #320 "Superstitious" is just a polite way of saying "incredibly fucking stupid". Haha, that's true. Some people lack common sense and will defend their absurd beliefs to the end, so there is virtually no reason to spend time arguing with them. Just smile and nod. DSE 5 #18 December 3, 2009 Actually, it has been done, but I didn't know the video had made its way to Youtube (or anywhere else). Ray Stone, who jumped from a moving helicopter at Zhills and landed a wingsuit without a parachute, suffered only a broken nose and a little backache. That first experience wasn't enough for Ray. At the Tiki Boogie, he jumped from a fast moving truck at a height of approximately 10' above the water, and flew/flared/landed almost as described. He suffered the indignity of several young women's breasts pressed against him as he exited the water but was otherwise unharmed. FWIW, Ray Stone/Stoney has now twice landed a wingsuit (with video proof). He said "I'll never do that again."

billvon 3,120 #20 December 3, 2009 It's been done, but from what I've heard it was nowhere near as graceful as you describe - and it wasn't from a very high altitude.

Not only will I have a new-to-me rig that needs to be tried out a whole bunch of times, but Ill also be bringing a pretty decent amount of military folks Ive met out here that want to jump. Hell, one is even looking into the AFF package there and gear prices already.Muff #5048
