That's 343,200 ft. A bunch of years ago, there was a T-shirt that depicted an 8 way open diamond comming out of the space shuttle cargo bay. This would be tha next best thing. Most of the things worth doing in the world had been declared impossilbe before they were done. Louis D Brandeis Where are we going and why are we in this basket? skyrider 0 #3 December 7, 2009 Anyoen see "Sir Richard Branson" in the skydive video, "The Right Walley"? He pulled the cutaway not his main, the jumpmaster pulled his reserve for him (round) He broke his leg/or ankle on landing...at least he was still smiling, and laughed at himself! MikeJD 0 #4 December 8, 2009 My DZ has a 1600 yard grass runway. Think that'll be ok? Even if this could physically be done, I think I'd find that jump a little steep at $200K a slot. You think he does discounted team tickets? Nothing bigger than a 6-way, I notice. Seriously - although it'd be a great dinner party story, I wonder if the experience of riding in SpaceShipTwo would be worth the money. Even if I was loaded, I can think of ways I'd rather spend that sort of cash.

Even if I was loaded, I can think of ways I'd rather spend that sort of cash. Not sure that I would spend 200k on it (even if I had it), but some things in life are worth the experience. I had the priveledge of flying on Concorde the week before it was withdrawn from service - and while it cost me nothing I would happily have paid. With time ticket prices will come down and while this may seem like a f*cking crazy reason I would spend a hell of alot of money to do it. When I was about 5 or 6 years old, my "new" Dad promised that one day we would go into space together. My mom had just gone through a crazy divorce and my step dad who is a great guy sincerely believed that as space flight was growing it would be possible in his lifetime. I would love to be able to fulfil his promise by taking him up - I just need prices to drop quick enough cause he's already over 70. He was always a person of his word and this is the only promise that I know of that he hasn't kept - I doubt he even remembers it.Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived. MikeJD 0 #7 December 8, 2009 That is a fine ambition. Seems like the odds are stacked against you, but I really hope you can make it come true.
JohnMitchell 16 #8 December 8, 2009 200 grand? That's doable. Not by me, but that's doable.
MikeJD 0 #9 December 8, 2009 Quote 200 grand? That's doable. Not by me, but that's doable. Unfortunately, right now it'd be four hundred for Nigel and his step-dad. But I guess for someone who could afford two hundred, they'd probably find the extra two. And you're right - there are plenty of people around who can shell out that kind of cash. Which is lucky, because it'll keep the business alive and eventually bring the fares down for the rest of us. Don't you just love early adopters?
