YIPPEE!! Lesson in office politics..

Recommended Posts

Think I've mentioned this before, but I've been waiting and waiting to get my updated licence that shows I'm allowed to ride motorcycles.. It's supposed to take no more than 15 days..

Well, I was chasing it up and on Monday was told I had to wait 4-6 weeks like everyone else for them to look into my "query".. The same day, there was a big article in a motorcycle forum about how driver's licences would never again be lost due to a new and improved process, blah, blah.. And I thought - how ironic because *my* licence got lost about 8 weeks ago!!!

So I wrote to the Press Officer that was mentioned in the magazine and quoted the article and explained my situation.. I got a phone call today from the licensing authority - they apologised to me for the problems I'd experienced and reassured me that it had been sorted as a matter of priority given the long wait I'd already experienced.. Got home today and found my licence had been mailed to me by special delivery yesterday :)
WOO HOO!! Never underestimate how much a company sweats when they're worried about bad PR!!! :D:DB|

Now I'm gonna write to the forum and explain how nice the licensing authorities have been to me - everyone wins :P

Good for you, I assume the licensing organization is the government? Usually they aren't too worried about bad publicity because they have a monopoly. I hate dealing w/ the DMV.

Yeah.. They are a branch of the government.. The thing is.. I appreciate that I can't be the only person who has experienced problems with my licence, especially as there have been postal strikes in this country around the same time as I was doing my riding test..

That being said, however if they're going to shout about how great they are, it's only fair that they should be able to back up their statements!!! :P

I'm glad I escalated it to the next step.. Heck.. I could have been without a licence (and unable to take advantage of winter motorcycle sales) for a LOOONG time...

You should, you'd be more than welcome (tho' I probably would be jeallous - Cheers Squeak).... But I'm away in France from next weekend 'till April ... just the right time to be riding again.

I'm torn between getting a cheap as chips Honda CBF125 or a slightly funner Kawasaki Ninja 250R.. I can hardly wait!! Though I'm not so sure I'll be riding it all the way to France!! :D
