BillyVance 35 #1 December 14, 2009 I pretty much open and sort most of my wife's mail, just the bills in her name and other assorted stuff, but I leave the ones that appear personal alone for her to open herself."Mediocre people don't like high achievers, and high achievers don't like mediocre people." - SIX TIME National Champion coach Nick Saban
Heatmiser 0 #2 December 14, 2009 Actually, my wife processes most of my snail mail. What you say is reflective of your knowledge...HOW ya say it is reflective of your experience. Same here. More or less. It's easy to steam them open & then glue them back shut.
PLFXpert 0 #6 December 14, 2009 I go through all the mail--shred what needs to be shredded, recycle all that can be recycled, file what needs to be filed, etc. It is mostly all for me anyway. Bill used to get his bank statements in the mail (I kept urging him to go paperless and he kept forgetting) and I would leave them unopened...until the entire file drawer filled up with his unopened bank statement envelopes. At least he filed them. With all these "do you go through your spouse's X" threads, I realize Bill and I do not really think twice on the rare occasion we might need to. There is nothing off limits, really, but nothing either of us ever feel a need to go through. I take the AMEX receipts from Bill's wallet each week, he goes into my bag anytime he wants chapstick (because he is forever losing his). Having said that, we are best friends and have been together, in love with each other, for more than nine years now. I cannot think of anything that would bother me for him to go through. What bothers me is when he does not place it back EXACTLY how it was. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

rwieder 0 #8 December 15, 2009 No absolutely not. The thought never crossed my mind. Edith has always taken care of everything, it's not like I'm home a lot. I figure after 32 years together if I can't trust her, we don't need each other.-Richard- "You're Holding The Rope And I'm Taking The Fall"

I go through it to sort stuff out, put bills in the right places and junk mail in the trash, etc. One less hassle for her to deal with, since she works and I don't."Mediocre people don't like high achievers, and high achievers don't like mediocre people." - SIX TIME National Champion coach Nick Saban
JohnMitchell 16 #10 December 15, 2009 We have joint everything, checking, credit cards, Christmas cards, etc. so it's no big deal who opens what. Except for UPS packages this time of year because there's a few presents coming in the mail.
