Guys i went to update my norton subscription and the fucking thing gave me some fucking virus/trogen/gaydonkey!
it's asking me to dish out money for some anti virus that doesn't exist
help!

Run your virus scanner first... then try a malware prog like malwarebytes or similar.

Can't find any news of norton's webpage being hacked.

It killed several OS's in the last few weeks.

Retrieve your DATA NOW!

Then be ready to wipe the HD and start over.

Heck for that matter buy a new HD for $100 (terabyte) and install a new OS, then after all security is setup, suck the DATA back off the flashdrive or original HD as a slave.

I have to fix a friends machine that had over 25 virii

The GUI is even gone, so that leaves either scanning over secure network or just dumping it and starting fresh.

I can obviously run from TaskManager.

But I don't need to use a scalpel when using a chainsaw will do.

Even though I have an IT and security background I really do not enjoy it and lately it does not pay the bills.

Forensics and Security is he way to go unless you are already employed.

Even if employed that is a very marketable skill set.

I cease to give a shit about computers, they are just a box to me.
