andybr6 0 #1 June 3, 2005 I have just bought a pro-dytter which will be my first ever audible alti. I have a bonehead mindwarp [the kind with the two internal audible ports but not the the very latest one] I was wondering how you all fit your dytters inside. The helmet has the two detachable lining pads that go into the helmet where your ears and audibles fit. Each of the pads has a slit in one side and an elasticated band to the hold the audible in place. Do you put it in the pad then turn it round so the slit is facing your ear or will that be too loud? Do you put it in so the slit side is facing outwards towards the helmet shell and the padding is between your ear and the dytter or will that be too quiet? All advice from mindwarp owning audible alti users would be appreciated. ------------------------------------------------ "All men can fly, but sadly, only in one direction"
SkymonkeyONE 4 #2 June 3, 2005 Put that sucker in there so that it will be most-loud. That means the button/guage side facing out, away from your ear. There is no such thing as "too loud" in my opinion.
brewman 0 #3 June 3, 2005 Andy, I've got the mindwarp pimpdaddy and a pro-dytter, here's what I do, so far, it works well. Keep the pads oriented the way they came from the factory, with the slit to the outside. The back of the dytter (with the alarm opening in the case) faces in towards your ear, the front of the dytter faces away from you head. Using some sharp scissors, cut a small round hole in the pad to expose the dytter alarm opening. When gearing up, set/check your dytter, then pull the top of the pad loose and tuck the dytter in behind the pad, thru the slit, into the pad. In the plane, have your helmet on at take-off, verify you can here the 1000ft beeps. At the two minute call, visually verify the dytter hasn't shifted and you can see the alarm opening thru the hole in the pad. Have fun!
andybr6 0 #4 June 4, 2005 Thanks Brewman, that sounds like a good way of doing it. I'll try it out this weekend if the weather ever gets better! Amazon 7 #5 June 4, 2005 Yup... I do like the SkyOne says... also by putting the button side to the outside it fits into the curve of the helmet better on my Mindwarp. Set the alarm to LOUD there is a LOT of noise in freefall
