BillyVance 35 #7 January 13, 2010 A repo man was killed a couple years back in Birmingham for trying to retrieve a vehicle whose owner was in default. He even had the wrecker lined up to haul the vehicle away and the owner comes out, yells at him and BLAMMO. keithbar 1 #12 January 14, 2010 the 1st few episodes they put out MAY have been filmed "as it happened" but everything after that is SO fake and staged. matt is just an over acting shatner with musclesi have on occasion been accused of pulling low . My response. Naw I wasn't low I'm just such a big guy I look closer than I really am .
jimmytavino 16 #13 January 14, 2010 seems to be a show with reenactments of various 'adventures' that this REPO outfit in California has experienced... I think they used weird and interesting events for their story lines, but the over acting is evident....,,,, Both on the part of the repo crew , and whomever is portraying the repossessee.... Man those folks are NEVER happy to see the towing hook, swing up out of the bed of a nondescript Pick up truck....(seems to be set up on hydraulics, so that the crew can cruise the streets looking for their "prey" without being toooo obvious...) They always have legitimate paperwork, authorizing the Repo... But when the "taking" ensues!! the fireworks can start.. People get mean, belligerent, abusive and Often Physical , in defense of the machine they "own" but for which they haven't been "paying"...seldom will the 'owner' simply hand over the ignition key... Rather, they bust beer bottles and go after the crew,,pull knives or guns, or they scream and hollar, and raise a ruckus...One guy was selling sledge hammer hits!!!!! on the soon to be repo'ed truck, for 5 bucks each.. to passers-by!!!another who is a landscaper spraying insecticide, hits the Guys, in the eyes,, with his sprayer!!! (then the pepper spraying follows) when they try to grab his van... and another pours gasoline into the front seat of his pick up and tosses in a cigarette!!! hahahaha.. They repo a bunch of different cars, ATVs. motorcycles and even grabbed a Citation Jet... interesting and different... Disclaimer.....This thread in NO way serves as an endorsement of this show......but goes to show the wild and idiodic things that make it to our airways and cable tv stations.. ....isn't ANYbody in charge ???? around here!!????? jmy
wolfriverjoe 1,523 #14 January 14, 2010 TLC (The Learning Channel) did a couple shows that were real repos. Some of them were a little scary, but none of them had the assaultive behavior by the repo guys. Some of the tricks and techniques they used were interesting. Like "test driving" a bike that the guy was trying to sell, then having the partner hand the poor guy the repo paperwork. But the crap on that show is so over the top, and unbelievable. Those guys would end up in jail at the end of each episode if it was real. The reality is called Peaceful Repossession."There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit."
