The end of this program is drawing near. I'm personally pretty sad about that, but if anyone is interested, a commemorative patch will be produced, and anyone can vote on their choice.

Nearly 100 designs were received in the Space Shuttle Program Commemorative Patch Contest from a wide variety of individuals, including astronauts, former and current civil servants and contractors. Choose your favorite from among the 15 finalists for a People’s Choice Award. The number of votes received will be one of the factors in the judges' final decision. The winning design will be flown on an upcoming shuttle mission, and the winner will be presented with their flown artwork as an award. I was there to watch the very first shuttle take off. We happened to be at the Easter Boogie (Z-Hills) and drove over to see it. Words cannot describe what it's like. If you get a chance to see a launch, do it.

When does the last shuttle leave? It'd be cool to see the first and the last!

I think there will be five this year. First one Feb 7
about 4 am.

The last launch is scheduled for 9/6/10, although that date is subject to change. There may be an additional "really last launch" after that, but it is not official, yet.
