happythoughts 0 #1 January 26, 2010 I need some info. The moon has such a gravitational effect on the Earth that it causes the ocean to pull away from the bay and then come back into the bay. Do you suppose that it affects my fall rate ? Maybe on full moon night jumps, I get more freefall time because of the moon's pull. In fact, since I have a little more "mass" than some others, I'll bet it slows me way down. (Just a theory at this point. Waiting for objective facts. ) Oh, and one more question... since this is a skydiving website, why does the spellchecker flag "freefall" as a misspelled word? quade 4 #2 January 26, 2010 Your mass remains constant at non-relativistic speeds. Does the Moon affect your weight? Yes, very slightly. Does the Moon affect your fall rate? Since the Moon affects your weight, technically, yes, but since the effect is so small, you would be hard pressed to measure it. You inhaling and exhaling would produce a bigger change by several orders of magnitude.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
