quade 4 #7 January 23, 2010 Quotewonder how much distance you could cover? I'm sure Felix could fly across the English Channel. Of course, there'd be no actual documentation of the exit point and no GPS recording of it, just plenty of media to watch him land.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
lawrocket 3 #8 January 23, 2010 I've never been much of a fan of Baumgartner, but I reckon if he pulls it off and they get some good and useful data, he AND hsi team will get some props from me. And yeah, I would have liked to see Cheryl Stearns do it, too. My wife is hotter than your wife.
Amazon 7 #9 January 23, 2010 I wonder if he would want to race from up there.....make SURE we go over the sound barrier.. and do a little speedskydiving while we are at it.. I would LOVE to feel a sonic wave on my toes

gemini 0 #13 January 23, 2010 My memory is sometimes faulty, but it seems somewhere I read that Kittinger landed 138 miles from where he took off. Of course this includes balloon drift. Blue skies, Jim

Good luck to him - I hope he succeeds. I am still rooting for Michel Fournier, though. He's been trying so hard for years to get it done, and I know it would break his heart if someone else came along and snatched it away from him. mh ."The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat." Of course, there'd be no actual documentation of the exit point and no GPS recording of it, just plenty of media to watch him land. It is my armchair QB guess that this event will be no different. Unlike Stearns and Fournier, Felix is doing this as a publicity stunt and I doubt anything of scientific use or data collection for a greater good will come from it. And like the Channel crossing, I am already doubtful that we,the world, will actually see anything that substantiates his max altitude reached. But thats just based on what we've seen from Felix in the past and I could be wrong.....but I'd bet a beer I am not."It's just skydiving..additional drama is not required" Some people dream about flying, I live my dream SKYMONKEY PUBLISHING
