What use do people make of retired Cypres batteries which are still good?

Uh... come again?

Let me elaborate, here I have a Cypres with batteries showing strong voltage yet past 2-year mark, so I have to replace them.
It dies in half a year, leaving me with another set of batteries good for 1.5 years.

How can I use them? :)

Someone once told me that you can use them in one of those C battery flash lights.
You just have to get a different bulb, and bamb... you have a flash light that will shine, and last for a VERY long time.
Now, as I say this, I have not tried it yet... but I hear it works great.

Give them to someone with a good Cypress that needs batts. They are good for two years from the date of installation, as long as you properly document the switch, and the date the batts will expire, you should good.

Look in the classifieds for a Cypress that needs batts. Either buy it, and run the batts down, or give/sell them to the seller/buyer.

Yes indeed, old Cypres batteries are great in C cell flashlights.

C-cell flashlights are hard to find these days, at least in my area.

Do check the voltage to find higher voltage bulbs. I measured a couple expired Cypres batteries at 3.6V per cell. In a 2 C-cell flashlight, I've used bulbs that are for normal 4 cell flashlights (rated 6.15V), which make for a very strong flashlight. However, since 2 * 3.6V = 7.2V, a bulb for 5 cell flashlights would probably be better for bulb life.

Cool!

I do wonder if I can put them in my cordless mouse, because it seems to go through regular batteries like a starving rat through fresh camambert.

I tried to look around for bats with like a few months to live but ended up buying new as folks kept telling me it just wasn't 'normal practice.' Which led me to post this question.
