wolfriverjoe 1,523 #176 December 30, 2009 I'm mixed. From a practical standpoint, protecting the starters is a good idea. How much louder would the screaming be if one of the stars had gotten hurt in the 4th quarter? But you could see on their faces how the players felt about losing a winnable game. And if they do the same thing at Buffalo, then have the bye in the 1st week of playoffs, how will that affect their heads? (Isn't 90% of the game half mental? - Yogi Berra) I would have also preferred to see the cheaters taken down a peg by not being the only team to go unbeaten during the regular season. Lastly, have you heard that some fans are talking about suing because they paid good money to see the starters sit on the bench? That belongs in the thread in SC about tort reform "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." BillyVance 35 #177 December 30, 2009 I would also say that New Orleans REALLY tanked it against a 3 win team, on their home field in the Superdome, no less! wolfriverjoe 1,523 #178 December 30, 2009 Yeah, New Orleans screwed the pooch something fierce. But, like Minnesota vs. Chicago, they were trying to win. They both are choking really bad at the worst possible time. Which, as far as Minnesota is concerned, is just fine by me "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." robskydiv 0 #179 December 30, 2009 The Bengals probably, well ok, most certainly will not make it to the Super Bowl, I'm so proud of them making the playoffs. "Playoffs?" "Playoffs?"
Rstanley0312 1 #180 December 30, 2009 The Colts sitting the starters is not a good or bad thing. One can argue the point either way. As a Colts fan I really would have loved to see them win! I hated it but at the same time I get it. This is nothing new for them. The only thing I do not like the the Jets getting in bc of it. The Bengals will let them win also just so they can play them in the first round of the playoffs. That sucks for teams trying to fight their way in. Look at Malaluga (sp.?) though he wasn't even in the play and broke his ankle. Had P E Y Peyton or D Clarke gone down in a game that means jack shit that would have sucked even more. I would like my boys in blue to be a part of history but the goal is the Super Bowl and I want to have full strength in the playoffs. Espcially if we win like we should and face San Diego or New England. P.s. I think Philly is going to the Super Bowl in the NFC. They are looking real strong on both sides of the ball. I would actually take Dallas or Philly over NO or Minn.Life is all about ass....either you're kicking it, kissing it, working it off, or trying to get a piece of it. Croc 0 #182 January 1, 2010 So what did y'all think of Indy pulling it's starters and throwing the game? Fans here in Indy are all fired up about this tactic, some season ticket holders are giving up their seats. It has been going on for ten years and has resulted in one Superbowl. As far as I am concerned they have just lost their first round playoff game, as usual. Hope I'm wrong. Bill Polian."Here's a good specimen of my own wisdom. Something is so, except when it isn't so." BikerBabe 0 #183 January 1, 2010 I hope so! That would mean the Bengals beat em ;) As for your question, as a Bengals fan who just saw them lose one of their best defensive linemen to an injury in a game against the 3-12 chiefs, I gotta side with the coach on this one. Rather have healthy starters for the important games. Who cares about being undefeated. everyone (fans and people who follow football) knows that the colts are an epic team, Manning is an epic player, etc. History won't have an issue remembering them. They didn't need the win, they had first seed locked up. Gotta look past emotion and view it rationally.Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup! Croc 0 #184 January 1, 2010 It's not the risk of injury that's the problem; it's the loss of fire so that they come out flat in the playoffs. It has happened at least eight of the past ten years. It's all about mental preparation and attitude. I think (and so do a lot of fans around here) that, while resting players is a sound business decision, it is a disaster for the team's momentum. Again, I hope I'm wrong, but history is on my side, In the end, football is 90% emotion."Here's a good specimen of my own wisdom. Something is so, except when it isn't so." wolfriverjoe 1,523 #188 January 11, 2010 Fabulous game. Highest combined score, Rogers threw for 300+ in the 2nd half. Jennings made 2 catches that were well beyond belief. That missed field goal at the end of regulation probably caused a few heart attacks around here.[whine]The officials missed a few calls that could have made a difference[/whine] Oh, well. It's just a game. And I really can't say the Cards didn't deserve to win it. But it would have been really cool if the Packers had been able to come back and win "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Andrewwhyte 1 #189 January 11, 2010 Puleese! It was not a great game at all. It was entertaining but was not good football. I don't care how good Warner is, if their defense doesn't step it up they will not survive.

I don't care how good Warner is, if their defense doesn't step it up they will not survive. There were amazing plays made by both teams. Mostly offense, but there were still some by the defense. The defense on both sides was very ineffective. But they still turned out to be pretty evenly matched. Considering that the Packers had a great defense during the regular season (and the Cards were good too), I don't understand what happened. The Cards are going to be in trouble against the Saints (and the Packers would have been to, had they won) with a defense that is like ragged out F1-11"There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Rstanley0312 1 #195 January 14, 2010 Saints - I really think they were hurt especially on d twds the end of the season which is why they struggled but I do not think that will be the case. Chargers- I hate them! The Jets are not bad but they are not at that level and I do not think their Offense will produce against the San Diego D. Colts- My boys in Blue will actually make tackles unlike NE and their running game will not get 6-7 yard chunks in the running game. I don't care what Baltimore brings on D Peyton will beat it. Baltimore will kick field goals and the Colts will find the end zone! Go Horse! Cowboys- They have great momentum and are really playing well on both sides of the ball. Romo is playing damn good so I think they will play a more balanced game and control the clock with their running game. They are almost always 50/50 pass run. Very balanced.Life is all about ass....either you're kicking it, kissing it, working it off, or trying to get a piece of it. lawrocket 3 #199 January 23, 2010 Colts over the Jets - it won't be close. Manning will pick apart the Jets defense. They will make Sanchez beat them by putting 7 or 8 in the box (so Jets will have a couple of big runs). Saint over Vikings in a close contest that will likely be offensive, defensive, then offensive. Brees - I love the guy. Colts over Saints in Super Bowl. My wife is hotter than your wife.

Brees - I love the guy. Colts over Saints in Super Bowl. I'm gonna agree wholeheartedly with this. The Jets are doing great, but the Colts are just too good. I don't think Farve and the Vikings are going to be able to handle the Saints in their own dome. The Vikings have had that advantage at home, but Farve always had trouble there as a Packer. And look at how out of sorts the Cowboys were last week. It was great to hear (I was working and had to listen to it on radio) Romo and the Cowboys get clobbered. I only wish it had been by someone elseOn another note: it was funny as all hell to hear Cowboys fans bitch about "running up the score". If you don't want the score run up, don't let them score that much. Anybody else remember when the Cowboys ran the score up on the Packers? Something like 50+ points. They were going for the record for field goals in the game and the Packers just couldn't stop them. Some of the Packers fans bitched and the Cowboys fans basically said SUICC"There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit."
