Zenister 0 #27 February 16, 2010 QuoteQuoteI think they should have a Size-wise thing for both your Carry-on luggage and YOU before boarding the plane. Make the boarding door the same width as the seats for that plane. If this was a requirement, The airlines would have to put in bigger seats otherwise they would loose too much business. I have a similar idea, where all passengers are allowed a certain weight allowance for Bags, carry one and SELF. e.g. 150kg total weight including all baggage if you a huge arse you get to take less shit. if ya small you can take more shit. This. Per pound as base charge with upgrades for larger space/weight...I usually pay for more leg room, but shouldn't have to pay for weight that isn't mine.____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. skydiver30960 0 #29 February 16, 2010 Who would the airlines piss off more: the skinny folks by doing nothing, or the huskies by being more diligent about policing this issue? At the moment, this story notwithstanding, there really doesn't seem to be much hubbub about it. Lots of comedians crack jokes (even the fat ones joking about themselves, Ralphie May did a portion of his show in it) but is there really any APPRECIABLE threat to the airline's bottom line at the moment? Not really, so I expect no change will happen. "A weight and balance issue?" Damn, that's shitty. If there was no true CG problem, it was a crappy excuse. If somebody actually did the math and there WAS a CG issue on a plane that big, did they think they were going to fix it by removing only one (admittedly overweight) person? Yikes. As much as I hate government regulation, and if the government regulates the airlines anymore I think I'll pop, but I really do think a weight limit needs to be set. Total weight allowable per seat = one person OR XXX pounds per seat. Weigh more than that, you pay for two (or more) seats. Problem with that is the airlines will have to be fair and charge anyone over that weight accordingly, doesn't matter if your fat or tall or muscular. Sucks for me because I'm 6'2" and 230 pounds. If I got my wishes, travelling would probably get a bunch more expensive. Elvisio "that's MY armrest, dammit!" Rodriguez
