futuredivot 0 #1 February 18, 2010 Does anyone have experience with them? What's the reliability, how bad is maintenance? Anything info would be appreciated. You are only as strong as the prey you devour
skyrider 0 #2 February 18, 2010 Reliability aint bad, top speed can't survive the freeways in california, dealers are as easy to find as a new/better job ....they are priced cheap...and are a LOT of fun in town! BUT, not to be personal, if you know so little about motorcycles, Buy Japanise....nto as good as an investment as a harley, but they will give you fewer problems, and last you for many many years! Stick with a brand that has a dealer near you, that you feel you can trust.... If it is only because you are looking for 3 wheels instead of two, there are many options today! (Including Harley Davidson added a trike to their line this year, no longer dealing with Stires, which are damned good bikes!)
futuredivot 0 #3 February 18, 2010 Not a lot of Urals around here-wanted feedback from someone who's got first hand knowledge. I got rid of my last bike when I got engaged and looking at getting a weekend toy to piddle with. Prior to this I owned only Triumphs or HD (mostly those fun bowling ball harleys You are only as strong as the prey you devour
skyrider 0 #4 February 18, 2010 I've only bought and sold them....never owned one for my personal ride, although I did run th e hack from one a Honda choper for a few weeks! If you can handle triumphs and early harleyt work...they are a great around town bike, simple pushrod pancake motors easy to work on, shaft drive, easy to work on...(Buit liek aI said, suck for highway, unless you lovvvve the slow lane! futuredivot 0 #6 February 18, 2010 Thanks-I wasn't finding anything on a google search. Here on my two lane mountain roads, should make for a nice day/weekend tripper. Still got a soft spot for brit bikes-but I want to be able to ride at night.....reliably You are only as strong as the prey you devour
shropshire 0 #7 February 18, 2010 A mate of mine had a Ural Combo (bike & side-car) when we were in the RAF and loved it ... very argricultrual (based upon war 'recocovered' BMWs - if I remember correctly - the side car even had a mount for a machine gunI don't remember him ever having any problems with it - solid as a rock, it was. Squeak 17 #8 February 18, 2010 they're direct ripp off of old "air head" BMWs solid build, VERY easy to work on, (points ignition, lock nut tappets) but if unless someone is making them again, you'll be buying classic/vintage, which means you WILL be working on them. If you dont have the time or inclination, you might reconsider the marque. I'd own one if it were gifted You are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky) My Life ROCKS! How's yours doing?
