IanHarrop 43 #1 February 23, 2010 The thread about American Rituals/Traditions that keeps getting suggestions about things that are not strictly from the USA, but shared with Canada made me think of this clip. In it Tom Brokaw explains the relationship between Canada and The United States, in a pre-recorded short film that aired on NBC prior to the Opening Ceremonies of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada on Feb. 14th, 2010. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tYoTJItSPt0"Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy

warpedskydiver 0 #5 February 23, 2010 I have always liked Canada. If it were not for just a few laws I would gladly move there. In some ways Canada has great freedoms, in others not so. The same goes for the USA. I like the fact that most of Canada is as unspoiled as the USA once was. The USA has too damned many people.
riddler 0 #6 February 23, 2010 Wow, an entire piece about how Canada is where the Winter Olympics are being held. So, it's just like the US, only better? Here's a summary of the US feelings toward Canada. You're like another state. You just spend a lot of time talking about how great and different you are - a lot like Texans. Personally, I've been to Canada, and think it's a fine country. I could do without all the rhetoric.Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD

One of the first times I ran through Canada, I fueled at Pembroke, and had a hard time not laughing at how accurate the portayal of the accent is, Eh.I like Canada. CanuckInUSA 0 #11 February 23, 2010 I am shocked Tom Brokaw and everyone else at NBC ignored the major difference between Canadians and Americans. You know the fact that a Canadian's head splits in two when they talk. http://btsh.org/bruise/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/ike.gif Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

muff528 3 #17 February 23, 2010 We don't need Brokaw to explain Canada to us Floridians. We have plenty of actual Canadians down here that spontaneously explain things for us. Well,....... that and the Red Green Show.
