AggieDave 6 #1 February 23, 2010 So says the NBC reporter that is riding in a Super Otter with floats that does commuter work in Canada while on the air for the Olympic coverage. "There is no first class..." Its an Otter with seats. SEATS in it. Not a bench. Not a straddle bench, but SEATS. No first class? Hell, that IS first class in an Otter!--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
skyrider 0 #2 February 23, 2010 Invite them to a DZ, and show them how most sit in Otters,.,,,Fuck it all, we were Upgraded to "Benches" after the Perris crash...(floor was more comfortable)
wolfriverjoe 1,523 #3 February 23, 2010 About 200 of my 220 jumps are from a 182. Many of those were with 3 others stuffed into that 182. And most of those were in a narrow-body 182. ANY Otter is first class as far as I'm concerned. Floor, straddle bench or bench seats. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." It would be a lot of fun to get to climb around on those floats... And for the 182 comment, I agree. I have around 1300 jumps out of narrow body 182s, many of those are tandems...a big turbine like that IS first class!--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." Proabably less than 200 jumps out of single engined cessna's! the rest, DC 3, Otter, skyvan, jet, C130 , (Porters don' really count as single engine, they be roomy) ...Life in California do rock! Gotta admit though, we have fun when we travel, and get to go back to our roots, (I learn out of a 206) just to make us apreciate what we enjoy! between my fuck up been broken too many times legs and 2 ruptured disc....Little single's get painful... (Aggy Dave) the idea of doing Tandems out of cessna's is what kept me from ever getting a rating, they spend the whole flight on their knees many times, with the weight of that tandem rig on them....No way in hell for me,...my legs wouldn't work after that! Both legs been busted, and they are plenty still with only my own wieght...

riddler 0 #9 February 23, 2010 Consider skydiving as training for when the airlines start making seats 20% smaller to get more people aboard. We'll still think we have a huge amount of room. I have never flown anything commercial, except coach. Don't need to - coach seems like first class to me Trapped on the surface of a sphere. Gawd just filming them whne I worked at a Cessna dropzone for a short period of time, where I had to get on my kneees as the JM hooked up, made me realise, I'd nevr do tandems out of little cessna's...that was only with the weight of my rig on my knees, I don;t want to find out what it is like with a student and a rig holding my legs bent! I hear ya brother, especially for larger economy sized TM's like you and me! - and funny how it always seems they give the inflexible fat chicks to the bigger TM's?!?! ...nuthin' like having to untie your shoe so ya can scratch yer ear! I did about 300 Cessna tandems before I remembered that my wife is rich, and I don't really have to DO that kind of shit for 'fun' ! ~ If you choke a Smurf, what color does it turn? ~
airathanas 0 #12 February 24, 2010 Tru dat- I don't have the amount of tandems as Aggie Dave. I will say this though ~ all but two of my tandems are out of a narrow body 182. I don't have to spend the entire ride on my knees with the tandem rig on either. Being flexible and a 5'8" 150 lb woman has its advantages! skyrider 0 #13 February 24, 2010 Well you TM that do them out of 182's have my respects! 206 is bad enough!

More than a couple and you've pretty much got the level of suck figured out!Having a good pilot that will give you a little bump (zero G) to help you get up on your knees from the back of the plane helps a LOT.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
