People, how much prior sexual experience do you have?

Without addressing your definition of "numerous," I remember the name of every guy I ever kissed.

How did I miss this?

There's a LOT to be said for this.

Afterall, my answer was "one", but kisses? Oh my gosh, millions perhaps. I love kisses & hugs and have kissed/been kissed by many men. OK, most on the cheeks to say hello, but still, more on the lips than I can remember.

I can probably remember their names, but it might take me a while.

<---is TERRIBLE with names unless she says them 3 times or if they're unique.

The other day, I tried to remember the first name of a frat pres I dated my freshman year of college. He got no nookie, but lots-o-lip. And for the life of me, I couldn't remember his first name (we always referred to him by last name only)....[:/]....it bothered me, though, until at last an hour later I remembered:P
Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

Whatever happened to quality over quantity

I agreed!!!! :)

Ditto. I was a late bloomer and choose not to spread my wild outs across every field. I'm just not into flings.:)B|

What about...different strokes for different folks?

The making of a judgment about someone else's sex life seems to me to be highly presumptuous.

It's one thing to correct misinformation; it's quite another to pass judgment on the number of partners or kind of sex someone chooses to have.

Although my approach to this issue is as one who is nearly 48 years old (one month left of 47) and who has been sexually active since I was 13, I would never think to tell someone who has chosen celibacy, virginity until marriage or a very limited number of partners that their choice is the wrong choice. It's not the wrong choice for them, so why in the name of all that is reasonable would I inflict my way on them as the only way to go?

And why would some of them choose to inflict theirs on me?

I don't really want to hear from a guy who thinks I'm okay for a one-night stand but not for a long-term relationship. I don't want to know him. But that's because he has dared to judge me.

That bs in the other thread about a guy's fragile ego...here's a newsflash for you all you fragile ego boys: it doesn't matter how many partners a woman has had, the guy who is "best" is the guy she's with right now (unless he happens to be some asshole who is just using her body as a receptacle). It's not about technique, it's not about gymnastics, it's about being a loving, caring, sensitive partner in the bedroom. If you can't manage that, then you are going to be the "worst" even if you're the first.

Experience is really no big deal, because there are only a limited number of things two people can do in bed. (Yeah, you can work your way through the Kama Sutra, but in the end, there is a limit on how much variety is actually pleasurable over the long-term.) What's more important, no most important is not performance, but the free gift of and willingness to receive pleasure.

You'd be surprised how many people fail at that just because they're so uptight about being perceived as "good."

That was actually two rants in one. I think I should get bonus points.

As for all you with numbers requiring you to take both shoes off to count them all how many STDs have you gotten.

None... ever, and why would quantity have anything to do with that?

It's just math. Without disputing that you may have never had an STD, the math is pretty clear that multiple partners leads to multiple possible exposures. Check out the numbers below from http://www.cdc.gov/std/default.htm

Quote

Chlamydia - Chlamydia is the most frequently reported bacterial sexually transmitted disease in the United States. In 2002, 834,555 chlamydial infections were reported to CDC from 50 states and the District of Columbia. Under-reporting is substantial because most people with chlamydia are not aware of their infections and do not seek testing. Also, testing is not often done if patients are treated for their symptoms. An estimated 2.8 million Americans are infected with chlamydia each year. Women are frequently re-infected if their sex partners are not treated.

Genital Herpes - Results of a nationally representative study show that genital herpes infection is common in the United States. Nationwide, at least 45 million people ages 12 and older, or one out of five adolescents and adults, have had genital HSV infection. Between the late 1970s and the early 1990s, the number of Americans with genital herpes infection increased 30 percent. Genital HSV-2 infection is more common in women (approximately one out of four women) than in men (almost one out of five). This may be due to male-to-female transmissions being more likely than female-to-male transmission.

Gonorrhea - Gonorrhea is a very common infectious disease. CDC estimates that more than 700,000 persons in the U.S. get new gonorrheal infections each year. Only about half of these infections are reported to CDC. In 2002, 351,852 cases of gonorrhea were reported to CDC. In the period from 1975 to 1997, the national gonorrhea rate declined, following the implementation of the national gonorrhea control program in the mid-1970s. After a small increase in 1998, the gonorrhea rate has decreased slightly since 1999. In 2002, the rate of reported gonorrheal infections was 125.0 per 100,000 persons.

HPV - Approximately 20 million people are currently infected with HPV. At least 50 percent of sexually active men and women acquire genital HPV infection at some point in their lives. By age 50, at least 80 percent of women will have acquired genital HPV infection. About 6.2 million Americans get a new genital HPV infection each year.

Trichomoniasis - Trichomoniasis is the most common curable STD in young, sexually active women. An estimated 7.4 million new cases occur each year in women and men.

Also, in reading about each of those at that page, it says (for every one of them) that most people don't have symptoms or know they have them.

I suppose those who are indiscriminate about their choices might be in some danger... but that doesn't mean that quantity leads to infection, STDs, pregnancy or anything else.... except experience.

In every one of those STDs, it says that most people do not have symptoms and do not know they they have the infection. You can be as selective as you want, but if a partner doesn't know that they are carrying something, you won't know they are either. Did you read the part that said that at least 80% of women will have acquired genital HPV by the age of 50? That's 4 out of every 5. It's not because they're all indiscriminate, but because (from the referenced page), "No HPV tests are available for men." Similarly 1 in 4 women and 1 in 5 men are carrying genital herpes, and most don't know it. Assuming a random distribution (I know, that's a faulty assumption, but it's the best I've got), that would mean a woman who has slept with 50 men has likely slept with around 10 who have HSV-2. At least in that case there are blood tests available to both parties, if they take the time to get them done. I've actually got negative test results giving me peace of mind, but I'd bet that most people don't. I imagine most people only get tests done if there appears to be something wrong. If they're asymptomatic, nothing will appear to be wrong, thus they'll rarely if ever get themselves tested. Anyhow, all I'm saying is that we can ask our partners as many questions as we want, but if they don't know whether they have something, neither will we.

wow...hmmm, don't know what to tell you... born a minority and I guess I'll stay a minority.

And I also get tested every year along with millions of other people YOU included.. it's not rocket science you know. Have faith man!!! If you do it and I do it.. trust me.. others do.

And other than HPV which is only are recenly occurring topic of STD conversations, what makes assume that someone with a large number of sex partners didn't have a clean bill of health for each and every single partner? Haven't You???:P

***What about...different strokes for different folks? The making of a judgment about someone else's sex life seems to me to be highly presumptuous.

RL, I wasn't being judgmental. I was expressing my preference. What other people want out of their sex life is up to them. More power to them. I choose at this point in my life to engage in a monogamous relationship. That is what works for me.

I'll be at Dublin. If you will be there, look forward to meeting you.:)

Sorry, you just made a very timely and convenient springboard for a rant that has been spread out all over this forum for the past two days.

I'm starting to cool down. A little. Maybe I'll be normal by the time Dublin rolls around.

NO Godammit - not my sister, THEY WERE SISTER's - sorry for shouting, and any vomit that may have been conjured up, thinking someone would be weird enough to post a reply stating that they had slept with their own sister. >:(

Thats way too weird for me.
