I also don't like when the cashier just says "$13.95 [end of sentence]", instead of $13.95, please." Bad training by the managers AFAIC. And come to think of it, I also think it's rude and presumptuous (if not downright disrespectful) when a service person on the other end of the phone line presumes to address me by my first name, instead of "Mr....". I think that, most of the time, anyone on the phone who is otherwise a stranger to the speaker and is not obviously a child is deserving of this courtesy.
