Have never seen it :(

You should rent it at the video store. The FJC is hysterical. Truman Sparks is like a role model to me. ;)

none of the video store have it here:( Wanna get it and tape it for me Bill:)

Not only is it the funniest skydiving sequence ever, (except maybe the 4-minute-falling-Cadillac scene from Terminal Velocity) it harkens back to a more innocent time before the world realized what a piss-poor actor Kevin Costner was, but was forced to endure years of his sh*tty work anyway! I always tried to get the kids at my DZ to rehearse it and do it verbatim for the next tandem who walked in unaware. :D

(Edit:) At the risk of becoming a corporate shill, you can get it here for $11, and on DVD no less!
Every DZ should have a copy on the same shelf with the Bill Booth waiver video. Play them back to back.

For the newer jumpers, that movie is comedy.

For some of us from the old days, it's just nostagia. I mean, what's the big deal about taking a drag on the way to altitude? We always kept duct tape in the plane.

I remember people living in the wrecked Twin Beech fuselage at Perris, and the remnants of 817 & 57U next to the parking lot.

Some of us at the annual California Aerial Circus party got to see the original "Proof" a college movie project which contained only the FJC. No one knew what to expect. We were laughing so hard I though someone would die!

If you haven't seen Fandango, watch it for the first time in a room full of only jumpers.

You too? The day I walked into the hangar to make my first jump... there it was, Fandango on the TV. My thought was, holy crap! Honest to god, we had a big white arrow that someone on the ground operated and on the final leg, there was a guy with two little flags in his hands. Red for right turn, green for left. I had a helluva time seeing the little flags and... it was ugly! :D

Hey, I didn't even have anyone on the ground showing me where to go! But then my first few landings were so far away from the dz that I wouldn't have been able to see them anyway... :D

Did you make your first jump at WesTex?

I almost made my first jump while living in Midland, but I was too young and my mom wouldn't sign the papers... But I called a dz out there to ask them about it. (Can't remember the name of that dz, but I think it was out at the Eagle's Nest airport... Do you know if they're still open?)

You know about WesTex??

Yeah, I jumped there one time after I was off student status... In fact, I just came across this picture the other day and had a laugh... I am the one who looks like a kid with a giant rig on... I didn't have my own gear, and a 230 was the smallest thing they had for me to rent... (Hmm, now I'm wondering if I met you when I was there?)

(Didn't mean to hijack the thread, but at least we're talking about Texas so it's somewhat relevant. :))

Must've been rather recent. I started in the 80's when they had Mantas and a Maverone and a ManO' War. I ordered 230's and 290's about 5yrs ago. Maybe, we did meet. I was the guy in all Navy blue and neon pink gear. Yes, pink! It takes a manly man to jump pink!:D It's o.k. we're talkin' Texas here!:D

I just had a look in my old logbook... It was 1991, and the only thing I have written down for equipment is "Maverone" so maybe it was bigger than a 230 (my memory isn't so good anymore - though I do seem to remember it being a white and rainbow-colored canopy)...

And yes, it does take a manly man to jump pink. ;)

Yeah, that's it! We sure did have a rainbow Maverone! Back then, I had a Maverone... pink and Navy!:D That was still hot sh**. Stilettos were just 'breaking ground'! If, you're ever through this way, come see us!!!

Was that back when Scotty was rubberbanding the nose of his excalibur to make it open better??:D:D

Never look down on someone, unless they are going down on you.
