BillyVance 35 #3 March 1, 2010 Probably one of the inland DZs, not a coastal one. Awesome pic! How high is that tandem? MikeJD 0 #7 March 1, 2010 All I get is "Access denied by Smartfilter". Probably not surprising when I try to access the "i-am-bored.com" site from work. Would somebody mind pasting a little version of the picture up here so I can take a look at it?

NickDG 23 #11 March 1, 2010 You can see, from the smoke trail, where the shuttle begins its roll program and that's at about 12 seconds after liftoff. So someone should be able to figure out what that altitude is (where the roll begins) and then do some eyeball extrapolating! NickD
topdocker 0 #13 March 1, 2010 May be a rocket launch from the West Coast, that would wxplain the launch in the "industrial haze" and the small rocket.... Lompoc? skydive Santa Barbara.? They do 18K for tandems as well. Although, if some tandem camera took the shot, he/she would have their name plastered all over it. topJump more, post less! ridestrong 1 #14 March 1, 2010 QuoteThanks, Nick. Looks cloudy too! Unless there is a window we can't see, that is complete overcast and they flew above the cieling. If in the US against USPA/FAA regulations. (I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong). Just makes me wonder if it's real where it is.*I am not afraid of dying... One would assume that these days , however this photog is one of the most un assuming people I've ever met, and the photo belongs to the Tandem Passenger who is the one that submitted it. Just makes me wonder if it's real where it is. The DZ is about 8 miles from SLC-2 and the marine layer (1100 AGL) ended about 5-6 miles from the DZ. SLC-2W is less than 1/4 mile from the coast. Jump was about 2 years ago. Even though this jump was done over clear skies, as an exercise tell me where is says that it is against regulations to fly over clouds. diablopilot 2 #21 March 1, 2010 http://www.spacearchive.info/vafbsked.htm http://spaceflightnow.com/tracking/index.html If you ever find yourself in CA and can see a launch, they are pretty amazing. I can't in good conscious recommend the DZ but even from the ground they are amazing. More so in fact as you can hear/feel them. The 3am launches will have you on your feet looking out a window from a rem sleep before you you can even remember what your name is.---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. gearless_chris 1 #25 March 2, 2010 Even though this jump was done over clear skies, as an exercise tell me where is says that it is against regulations to fly over clouds. It's not, you just pull above them and fly to the edge. You can just see the edge of that cloud cover in the bottom right corner, I believe you when you say it was legal.
