BillyVance 35 #4 March 15, 2010 I am by no means an engine expert, but the article read it would be equipped with a choice of two different V6 engines. riddler 0 #6 March 15, 2010 QuoteJust wondered how this compares in performance when chasing assholes on the roads to the V8? In many major cities, the police are trained to give up ground pursuit, since it leads to a lot of traffic deaths. Radio and coordination with helicopters, etc seem to be a much safer option.Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD

regulator 0 #11 March 15, 2010 It doesn't matter since no car can outrun Motorola at 670,000,000 miles per hour. ----------------------------------------------------------------- C'mon Drew I know you probably know that the speed of light is 186,000 miles/sec. The speed of sound is 761 mph depending on the atmosphere. If you have a PTT Motorola that can travel 670,000,000 miles per hour, I'll wash AND wax your car AND detail the interior. I'll be waiting...:)

masterrig 1 #15 March 15, 2010 Looks like a real 'hot rod'! The new V-6's are just as 'hot' or hotter than the V-8's. I'm curious if, the new cars will hold the road like the Crown Vics? When my wife was in law enforcement, she had a new (at the time) Crown Vic assigned to her and she loved it. Chuck

AggieDave 6 #17 March 15, 2010 I'm not excited. The loss of cabin space is a big deal. Even two in shape cops, with over 30lbs of gear on, and the light/siren package, radar package, MDC, clip boards, etc in the front of the car, it gets TIGHT. Now put a cage in the car. Put a rifle rack on the cage and an active shooter bail out rig in the car. Its already hard enough to get in and out of the passenger side of the car (no steering wheel to grab) while kitted up. Actually, its really cramped in a Crown Vic with all of that and two officers. With one officer at least you can spread out a *little*. I hope Carbon Motors gets off the ground, their purpose built police vehicle looks like an excellent solution! The HP looks good on the V6, but pursuits aren't won with HP, they're won with superior driving skill and coordination. And to the person who said something about air support. Literally 95% of agencies out there don't have quick access to air support, so its a non-issue when deciding pursuit policies. Those policies were put in place due to people suing!--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
