regulator 0 #2 March 16, 2010 I had played Halo 3 for so long I almost excluded most shooters and only played Halo and Forza 3. But I finally bought MW2, and I like the game as much if not more than Halo. Halo has that stupid host system and its extremely unbalanced. If you get into a game and someone in there is from Spain and they get host...unless you live close to them you get screwed over every time. It came to where it wasn't fun anymore so I started playing MW2. However I have heard from my friends that Bad Company 2 is as much if not more fun than MW2, but I'm getting back to jumping this coming weekend and video games just got pushed down the list since skydiving will take more of my money, now that the weather is getting nice again
jtnesbitt 0 #3 March 16, 2010 I havent played BC2...honestly it doesnt look that appealing to me. I'm not really that big of a gamer. I'll get bored with a game and go months without playing until something else comes along and perks my interest. Another jumper recomended MW2 cuz she knew i was a Halo fan and I am hooked. It is SOOOOOO much better than Halo and i swore i weould never say that "If this post needs to be moderated I would prefer it to be completly removed and not edited and butchered into a disney movie" - DorkZone Hero
regulator 0 #4 March 16, 2010 Well in that case just wait until November of this year when the final chapter in the Halo franchise will be here. Halo: Reach. It should be rather epic.
MikeJD 0 #5 March 16, 2010 I've never been a huge Halo fan. The original was impressive on the old Xbox back in the day when there was nothing else to touch it, but I don't think the sequels have kept pace with the other shooters that have come along since. I love the Modern Warfare games. I think they just ooze class. In MW2 on Xbox live, if connections to the host machine are too slow then it switches to a different host. It's a bit annoying having to pause mid-game for that process to complete, but it's much better than having to play through the whole game with ridiculous lag. Bad Company 2 sounds great - the only disappointment is that it's single player offline, whereas I liked playing through the MW2 Special Ops missions in split screen with a friend. If you're just co-operating online you don't get to share beer and pizza.

Harmless 0 #8 March 16, 2010 MW2 doesn't have dedicated servers either, and you have the same host "issues" that you mention with Halo. Halo, MW, and BC are all awesome games in different ways. MW is very fast paced; run, gun, die, repeat kinda game. BC is easier to die, with much larger maps to maneuver. There are vehicles and support classes. It encourages and rewards teamwork much more. Halo can kinda go either way, but leans more toward the MW style. Just my opinion... diehard MW fans often get frustrated with BC because the vast size of the maps makes maneuvering very important, and you can often get picked off by a sniper that you never saw. I own and play all 3. Love them all, but after playing one for awhile it takes some adjusting to change."Damn you Gravity, you win again"

regulator 0 #11 March 16, 2010 Well they both may use the host system, but I cant tell nearly as quickly in MW2 as I can with Halo as to whether I am on the team with host or not...One good way to determine in halo is that if you're on the pit or another map with fusion coils...if you shoot them and they blow up instantly you probably have host...if you shoot them and theres a delay...you probably don't have host. But in halo I use the 'filters' all the time and they rarely work. For instance the last time I played Halo I chose the 'prefer my language' filter and everyone in the game except for me was from another country. It was severely laggy and before I broke my controller in frustration, I quit and I haven't played Halo since.
Harmless 0 #12 March 16, 2010 Well considering MW2 is 2.5 years newer than Halo3... I'd hope things had been improved Here's hoping that Reach will be just as awesome with as many improvements. Until then, I just finished the BC2 campaign and have a lot of leveling up in multiplayer to do. Gamertag - Zpped; if you feel like joining in. Encouraging teamwork has to be a good thing. Whenever I play MW2 online, there's no sense of co-operation at all. Everyone is just out to score as many points as possible. The only chat you tend to get is trash talk! It'd be nice to see if you can do better by working together. Maybe it's different if you're not playing with strangers. LouDiamond 1 #14 March 16, 2010 Here's a general question about the wireless or Ad-Hoc connection capability. I understand each box needs a wireless network adapter in order to link to one another. Are there any drawbacks to this over running a long ass ethernet cable from one box to the other? Does the wireless work as well?"It's just skydiving..additional drama is not required" Some people dream about flying, I live my dream SKYMONKEY PUBLISHING
regulator 0 #15 March 16, 2010 In general your data transfer rate will almost always be higher by using an ethernet cable as compared to wireless. The only drawback to running Cat-5 or Cat-6 is that it has a 100 meter maximum cable run of a single cable, but that's over 300 feet in one run. Not likely to have a house that has runs that long. I had to run an ethernet cable in my attic and down to another room...get a sheetrock saw and cut holes in the sheetrock and the use my crimpers to terminate the cable. Long story short...ethernet is not susceptible to electromagnetic interferance, and if you aren't encrypting your wireless network anyone can piggy back onto your network and slow down your connection significantly. If you HAVE to use wireless its not horrible...just a little slower and make sure you encrypt your network. If you need any help with any of this send me a message and I will gladly help you resolve any IT type issues you are having problems with.
LouDiamond 1 #16 March 16, 2010 Correct me if I am wrong, but in this case, there is no internet connecting the 2 xboxes, the wireless adapters simply connect one xbox to another xbox wirelessly. Also, does each console require a game disc or can I just use one game disc for the 2 connected Xboxes?"It's just skydiving..additional drama is not required" Some people dream about flying, I live my dream SKYMONKEY PUBLISHING

regulator 0 #18 March 16, 2010 If you want to connect two xbox's together and do a system link you can use a 4 port hub or switch and connect the devices using ethernet cables. This will not provide internet access only connect the two xbox's together. Or you could use a router and connect the devices together using ethernet cables and you will have both devices with internet connectivity. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Edit: I assume by wireless connections you are referring to xbox 360's. You can buy two wireless adapters for both xboxes and connect both xboxes to your wireless router and have internet connectivity for both, but you will need to have a wireless router for both devices to connect to. So if you had a linksys wireless router connected to your dsl or cable modem, and two wireless xbox adapters you could have internet on both devices...but this could be rather expensive, which is why I was informing you about the ethernet alternative. LouDiamond 1 #19 March 16, 2010 All I was curious about doing was connecting one xbox(downstairs) to another xbox(upstairs) in order to avoid the squashed split screen when 2 or more people play."It's just skydiving..additional drama is not required" Some people dream about flying, I live my dream SKYMONKEY PUBLISHING
regulator 0 #20 March 16, 2010 If you buy two wireless adapters for both xbox's they will not communicate with each other. They are for when you cant make ethernet runs and connect a single device to your wireless router. You have to have a wireless router for an xbox wireless adapter to work. regulator 0 #21 March 16, 2010 Hey Scott, Which floor is closer to your dsl modem..upstairs or downstairs? Because if one is closer, you can connect one with an ethernet cable, and use the wireless adapter on the other...that would resolve your problem.
