Tiger6513 0 #26 March 25, 2010 My buddy's wife is a teacher in downtown Baltimore... you want to talk about a sad situation, the best students are from "broken" homes. most of the kids have 0 respect 0 mannors and 0 motivation. Parents on drugs, dead or in jail... poor little fuckers, I would have more sympothy accept I see the little fuckers every summer wandering the streets looking for trouble to get into ((not to be racist but they are not white)and several of my close black friends hate the majority of "those" blacks for making them look bad). Last year they stole a chair off my deck and tossed it into a neighbors patio b/c I wouldn't let them use my water spout anymore (I had let them use it but they kept leaving it on and running their mouths)... Oh well, have to live near em, would Love to live w/o em.Travis Roy Foundation. At very least its a tax write off
skyjumpenfool 2 #27 March 25, 2010 We have a more "mixed bag" here. The kids you refer to will be the downfall of this country. It's not really their fault! They were born into "Crap"and have to live "Crap" every day. The sad truth of this situation is, me yelling at them for their disrespectful, insobordinate, "CRAP" behaivior is the best part of their day. Keep cutting teachers pay and bennifits! We'll see where that gets us. Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."
Tiger6513 0 #28 March 25, 2010 It simply makes a bad situation worse. The teachers we need to hire we can't afford to pay. The teachers (not all but many...in this area anyway) don't care and have no administrative backing. These kids simlply go to school because they have to, they will be in a gang, pregnant, strung out or dead by 18 anyway. Sad situation, easy to look away when it's not right in front of your eyes...Travis Roy Foundation. At very least its a tax write off
shah269 0 #29 March 25, 2010 Teachers, good teachers, are the hardest working most passionate individuals I have had the pleasure of knowing. And if they were paid a million dollars a year it still would not be enough to cover the amount of blood sweat and tears they shed in educating our children.Life through good thoughts, good words, and good deeds is necessary to ensure happiness and to keep chaos at bay. The only thing that falls from the sky is birdshit and fools!
SARLDO 0 #30 March 25, 2010 My wife is was a third grade teacher (in Virginia) and never did it for the money. She loved the kids and she did everything she could to help guide them, in spite of their parents. Since moving to Florida almost 2 years ago, she has been unable to get a teaching job. No money... Sadly, she has given up and is moving on to another career (Nursing)."Always do right. Tiger6513 0 #31 March 25, 2010 Nursing is a great choice! Teaching is always and option later in her nursing career. My friend who teaches does so b/c she likes to make a difference in these kids. Huge road blocks are administration and fellow teachers. The kids are horrible, as mentioned before they are from busted ass homes and a life of shitty treatment... I do understand it's not thier fault and they didn't ask for that upbringing... but it's almost too late for them, most of the teachers are so fed up with the overall atmosphere in the classroom (i.e. poor student/teacher ratio) they loose motivation to try to really help these kids. I grew up in Vermont in a private grade school and a public HS w/o little to no crime and very little diversity, so I know what it is to have had a good education and I feel bad for the kids who actually want to change but can't afford or aren't given the oppertunity to.Travis Roy Foundation. Why are you yelling at them. I work with ONLY those types of kids, and have never yet found the need to yell at any of them. I can tell you with 100% certainty that if you are yelling at them you are NOT "the best part of their day"As to the comment from the poster who said "they will be the country's downfall". I think a defeatest attitude like that and no faith in the positive potential of your youth is your bigger problem. You are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky) My Life ROCKS! skyjumpenfool 2 #33 March 25, 2010 Sorry, I've forgotten this is the forums where every word is taken littearly. To clarify, I don’t yell at kids. I do call them on bullshit behavior and I do expect them to treat the people around them with respect. I do not, however, believe in codling kids or enabling them to get away with murder. What I was trying to point out in my previous post was the incredable amount of "Crap" that some of these kids bring to school with them. A lot of baggage walks thru our front doors. It's a little difficult to read to the yelling comment any other way than literally. The poor standards and behaviour have been passed down from generation to generation for decades. I don’t see it as being any worse now. Teachers in locations where there is a higher proportion of so called "at risk" students have prime opportunities to do the greatest good. I work with 40-50 of the kids that many other teachers kick out of class. These kids are at the 15-19 age group and some come with some SERIOUS baggage. I'm not saying we are successful with all our kids but we do have a positive effect on every kid. Every kid we work with gets to see that at least not ALL people look down on them or think they are worthless and will not amount to anything. You are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky) My Life ROCKS!
