Nataly 38 #26 March 27, 2010 QuoteAs much as this belongs in the womens only forum - congrats on the job - it will last longer than the french. Yeah.. I'm not convinced this is the "love of my life".. What appeals to me most about Amsterdam is that it's not London. The fact that my boyfriend is already in Amsterdam simply makes it a logical place to go to start off with. Plus living together sounded like a nice way for us to get to know each-other better. I've wanted to move away from London for a *long* time now and my citizenship went through SO much quicker than I expected, so it's really tempting to just leave ASAP.. The real downer is that I don't like living in London, but in terms of jobs it's pretty unbeatable.. This assignment *is* and amazing opportunity, though, and it's for 6-9 months - that's not a very long time. In the grand scheme of things, I think it's worth delaying my move.."There is no problem so bad you can't make it worse." - Chris Hadfield « Sors le martinet et flagelle toi indigne contrôleuse de gestion. » - my boss

Something I cannot do on my Canadian passport. It's pretty amazing. And ultimately, I've been here for 5 years, so I do feel like whatever happens I will keep coming back here. I has become "home". 2 - I am not opposed to the entire UK - I'm just not a big fan of London. I might easily feel the same way about any huge city.. But of course, cities are where all the jobs tend to be. And I don't HATE London, but I'm up for a change. 3 - The fact that it's convenient and would be nice to move in with the boyfriend doesn't mean it's a bad idea.. I don't think you have to want to spend the rest of your life with someone to share an apartment with them for 6 months.. 4 - Squeak - give the thinly veiled insults a rest, will ya? Nataly 38 #44 March 30, 2010 Quote Take the job and quit whinin'. What do you need the man for anyway? You got your batteries on for the 0 sex partners per week, right? Yeah, well my battery-consumption isn't going to go down, 'cause I start the job tomorrow.. I left my last job without any back-up because I wanted to find a 6-9 month assignment until my citizenship went through.. For temp jobs there is little point in looking too far in advance because they tend to come up at the last minute and they usually want you to start ASAP.. I felt relatively confident that I'd be ok doing that in London - it's a job market I understand (mostly!) & feel pretty comfortable with.. My initial idea was to take a 6 month role here in London whilst I looked for an opportunity abroad. When my citizenship happened much faster than expected, it was tempting to leave ASAP, but ultimately, I guess I'm too chicken-shit to relocate to somewhere new without more of a plan job-wise.. Just felt like too much too soon.."There is no problem so bad you can't make it worse." - Chris Hadfield « Sors le martinet et flagelle toi indigne contrôleuse de gestion. » - my boss
