There are so many variations of US currency out now that it's hard to tell which is the most current. Someone could make a fake bill and tell people it's the latest and greatest when spending it.

I was getting a drink at a gas station last week and they wouldn't accept a $10 bill because it didn't have the watermark on it. Even after I pointed out that the bill was printed in 1977 and the bills didn't carry the watermark then, the lady wouldn't accept it insisting that it had to have the watermark. I'm pretty sure she wasn't even in this country in 1977.

You should have alternatively offered to pay with two-dollar bills.

I read of a case where a McDonalds customer had the police called on him when he tried to pay with $2 bills. Awesome.
