kkeenan 14 #1 April 22, 2010 An Atlas 5 is scheduled for a 7:52 pm launch from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. The Atlas 5 rocket is carrying a very cool Orbital Vehicle called X-37B. This is an unmanned spaceplane that sort of looks like a miniature shuttle. It will stay in orbit up to 9 months, doing secret things with its secret payloads, and then return for landing at Vandenberg AFB in California. http://www.spaceflightnow.com/atlas/av012/status.html_____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... lawrocket 3 #4 April 23, 2010 Why are they not launching it outta Vandenberg? It's gonna land there and VAFB has some polar orbital azimuths that Canaveral does not and a lesser chance of bad weather (though today is an exception). I reckon there's a good reason. danornan 79 #8 April 23, 2010 Tanks for the heads up... We'll try to watch it tonight over here on the west coast. I can normally see it just over my house depending upon the trajectory...Dano

I don't care how cool the job is, I don't think I could stand to be cooped up in a tiny space for that long without being about to move around. I guess I'd need a space about as big as a short bus.
