anghitman 0 #1 May 5, 2005 I have a Monarch 155 that needs break line replacement. Just broke one steering line during a jump. Is is possible to just buy a set of replacement steering lines? Where can I get one? Can this be attached by our local rigger? Your reply would be greatly appreciated! Blue Skies
PhreeZone 20 #2 May 5, 2005 Did the upper or lower line break? If its the lower just have your rigger sew a new one up. All that the line is is a piece of spectra with a fingertrap and bartack and a fingertrap on the other end. If its an upper Percision Aerodynmics can help you out there. It still might need to have a bartack sewing machine to properly fix it though.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

Unless it was cut, or something unusual, you should probably check to make sure your lines are in trim. Just because the other lines don't look worn does not mean they are the correct length. You may want to consider checking the line trim. For Great Deals on Gear
anghitman 0 #4 May 5, 2005 Thanks for all your replys. It seems I have no choice bu to send it back to the manufacturer. Yes, the lower line broke. The other steering line is not in good shape as well. But with the suspension lines, I think I coudl still get around 200 jumps more from the looks of it. We do not usually get to do many jumps here in the Philippines (4-5 jumps weekend only) so i think I could still stretch its life.
darkwing 5 #5 May 5, 2005 This is an easy job for a rigger to replace. I certainly wouldn't recommend sending it back to the manufacturer, unless there is some other problem. -- Jeff My Skydiving History

The lower steering lines get fuzzy much faster than the rest of the lines wear - you might go through a set every 250-300 jumps, less if you have velcro toggles and don't stow them immediately after landing. Spectra lines shrink and the steering lines shrink fastest - so spectra upper lines need replacment sooner than the rest too. Your favorite rigger can make replacements. I'd want the trim checked especially if your spectra upper lines need replacement (they've probably shrunk a lot) or the canopy has an unknown history (maybe the steering lines have been replaced before and the rest are in worse condition than you think). If an upper line broke I'd inspect the rest too - if wear from slider grommet burrs caused it other lines may be gone. New spectra upper lines need to be stretched. You may need to ask for all this explicitly.
