Twoply 0 #1 May 12, 2010 I'm looking for a nice slug of 20 acres or so here in Ohio. Anyone know of a good website to search? Realtor.com is ok, but I'm sure there are others. THanks!

jonstark 8 #4 May 12, 2010 Try Craigslist. Go to the local Land Trust and see what they have in preservation for sale. You may be able to homestead a portion of land with the remainder to be preserved for Ag, forest reserve or whatever. Meet the farmers and ask around -after- you have gained some trust as up-front and honest. Go to the loggers. Many of them own lots of different parcels in differing stages of growth. They are always buying and selling. Make sure you have some reality with raw land prices before you bid. Spend time walking it and take a forester with you. jon

Sletzer 3 #7 May 12, 2010 Most realtors don't know jack about rural property or what the timber on it is really worth (which can easily be more valuable than the land itself). That being said, if we're just talking a few acres then they're fine. If we're talking 100+ acres, you probably want to use a rural land specialist. Foresters are very knowledgable, and you might be able to get one to inspect the property for about $100. Well worth the money in my opinion.I will be kissing hands and shaking babies all afternoon. Thanks for all your support! *bows* SCS #8251
