Skybirthday!

Recommended Posts

Ten years ago today, right about this time in fact, I let go of the 182 strut at the old Eagle Flight Skydiving that used to be in Granbury, TX, for my very first skydive. It was a static line jump and Angie was my jump master. I was on a Dolphin container, with a Sentinel 2000 AAD, a Laser 9 288 main and I have no idea what the reserve was now.

The entire way up I swore I wouldn't jump again, the entire way down under canopy I swore I would never stop jumping and that I wanted to become an instructor. A lot of friends have come and gone, friends found and lost to the sport. A lot of fun jumps, fun times and great boogies had and since forgotten while enjoying the beer dues.

Here's to 10 years and here's to hoping for the opportunity to have another 10 years of active jumping! :D

As a side note, I do believe that tomorrow marks 10 years that I've been on DZ.com, starting back with the old forums.:o

The picture has me on the left and it is just before my 3rd jump. I don't believe any pictures were taken before/during/after the 1st jump unfortunately.

Nice Dave!

I see Malachi

But it seems there is a one legged jumper behind you - I hope his shorts held him in - i know it's cramped on the way to altitude -
I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama

YIKES...

I got my last haricut at the age of `15, I was in handcuffs at the time....Curtesy of the Christian County Sherrif, Mo.....One of the things I love about skydiving, is people from TOTALLY different walks of life, become friends!

That's Dennis Dorris, he actually has two legs, but he was at *just* the right angle for that picture to make it look like he doesn't. Yup, that's Malachi. I wish he would get back in the sport, or give me his rig.:D

So???/Got a tenway planned to celibrate? Only seems
Proper!

Freefall? Eh, what? Tomorrow will be hop-n-pop love at the DZ. Maybe I'll climb out on the strut and do a PRCP for old times.

Once upon a time I could do RW "ok" and FF even less-ok, but good enough for 2002 182-dropzone standards.:D

@Clint: yeah, hop-n-pop tuesday/thursday were the best! We should bring those back...except that damned job thing. 2003 was a fun jump year.:D

Congratulations!

So where do you see yourself in the sport of skydiving 10 years from now?

Will your 11-year-old son be packing your chute for you?
Will you be jumping a 75 sq. ft. canopy?
Will you be President of the Canopy Swooping Association of America?
Will you be the drop zone owner of the Aggies Over Texas parachute center?

This sounds familiar.
What was her last name?
In the late '80's, I spent some time around Gainsville, Seagoville,& McKinney.

John, I've tried to reply to your post 3 times now and the forum database keeps throwing an error...odd.

So where do you see yourself in the sport of skydiving 10 years from now?

--Hopefully swooping won't be banned, and maybe by then I might win once.:D

Will your 11-year-old son be packing your chute for you?

--God I hope so!

Will you be jumping a 75 sq. ft. canopy?

--Probably not, I would load that at 4:1:o

Will you be President of the Canopy Swooping Association of America?

--Only if Al will let me:P

Will you be the drop zone owner of the Aggies Over Texas parachute center?

--Morgan actually has permission to shoot me if I ever want to open or run a DZ!:D

Angie Hadley

A lot of those guys and gals at Granbury used to jump in Gainesville.

Did she and her husband start the Granbury DZ?
