I'm about to clear Mexico on Single player mode and have about 50 hours in the game since it was released. The side missions are as much fun and are as funny as some of the regular missions. The hunting and the Dead Eye modes are a nice plus but dueling just rocks. It took me a while to understand how to win but once you figure out where to paint the target to get your bar to increase to the end first then you win every time.

Try to do some disarms and shooting hats off people in the duels and it will really add the honor and cash to your wallet. Shoot the hat off first then the disarm is the trick.

Is this like GTA on a horse? It looks good, but right now I am playing through Borderlands, so I can't really start another game just yet.

Its GTA on a horse set in 1900. There is the usual shooting and stuff but then there is the roping of wild horses, the hunting, poker, blackjack, dice, dueling, riding stagecoaches and trains, treasure hunting, side missions, herb picking, bank robberies, etc.

There are about 8 pistol choices, about 6 rifles, 3 or so sniper rifles, shotguns, fire bottles, throwing knives, lasso, Gatling gun, cannon, etc as weapons in addition to your fists. The wildlife is able to all be hunted and an achievement is for killing and skinning one of every animal from horses to dogs to deer to bears.

You have options to either go honorable or dishonorable on all your actions so the towns people will either overlook some of your smaller crimes or will form posses to hunt you down depending on what route you go. Sherrifs hunt you down when you have bounties placed on you so you still have to elude them.

I am working on the achievement right now to put a tied up woman on the train tracks and watch the train hit her.

Finished it about two weeks ago. Good game. They sure do throw around a lot of negative remarks about Jews though.

But it is so fun shooting them in the head with every shot you have with what ever Pistol your using.

One thing they really go right was the way the characters react when you shoot them. Its kinda fun to see them get dragged around after you shoot em off their horse. I wish they had done a little bit more with the horses though. The longer you keep a particular horse, it should do more things for you. Maybe you can tie it up to some bars in a jail and break people out and things like that.

Overall it is the best Western themed video game out.

You are way more evil then I am, didnt even think to try that. Haven't shot any dogs either. Pigs on the other hand get kicked and shot regularly.

I have been doing the GTA thing also where I am giving the money back when I have the option to then killing the person as they walk away to then rob them and keep the money. Honor points stay high and I get my cash I need.

I find it very addictive killing and skinning the animals. Not sure what it is about that, but throw out some bait and kill em all. HA! The cougars are a bitch, they sneak up on ya from behind.

Ive got it for the 360 but still play MW2 more, I can not seem to get into this one as much.

So all this talk of Single player action . What about MP?
Ive had a few hours on it now and got to the horse wrangling stage. Gotta say I love this game so far. Its going to have the legs I need in a game to keep on playing it.

Lassoing people is a hoot and then dragging them along behind the horse is even better.

Anyone came across the drunk guy that really needs alift and then pinches ya horse? He too a bullet to his ass for his trouble......

I've ended up shooting one dog - because I'd accidentally kicked it while in a fist fight with someone else, after which it wouldn't stop biting me! Felt bad about it, though, which is testament to the way the game draws you in.

On the whole I'm really impressed by the sheer ambition of RDR. I think they've overreached themselves slightly in places, and of course it suffers from the same little glitches that mar all games - but given the constraints of the current technology it's an awesome achievement.
