Gawain 0 #6 June 26, 2010 This is related to that ad.doublclick/google ad thing right? Just out of curiosity, for those that it is happening to, assuming that you're not running some type of ad-blocker, are you using Firefox and it's most recent upgrade? I'm just curious because those events seem to coincide and I've given up with the choppy updates to Firefox and gone to Chrome...(which is a pretty fast browser...like wow)... Anyway, I was thinking maybe the two were related, the Firefox upgrade not handling the ad engines or something. So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! mnealtx 0 #7 June 26, 2010 Anyone using cursed with IE8 can go to the lower right corner of the browser, where the lock icon is. Click the arrow beside it and select 'choose content to block'. Click the arrow again and go to 'settings'. In that window, scroll through the various entries and block anything for 'doubleclick.net' and you should be good.Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. Shotgun 1 #9 June 26, 2010 It seems to have something to do with the Google Ads (Oh, I just freakin' love Google.... not.) Instead of clicking the back button, click on the little down-arrow to the right of the back button (depending on which browser you're using), and select where you want to go back to (skip over the Google Ad crap). Don't get me wrong - I don't mind seeing advertising on "free" websites since it helps keep the site available, but when it interferes with the functionality or becomes intrusive.... wolfriverjoe 1,523 #11 June 26, 2010 Ok. I'm getting it too. IE (don't ask me which one). I can hear the computer click a couple extra times and have to click the back button that many times to go back. It's handy when I have a lot of catching up to do and don't want to go to the forum and then to the 2nd or 3rd page. Interestingly, when it is doing it (it did it last night, not this morning, and it's doing it again now) the ad areas all say "Internet Explorer cannot display the page" or "The webpage cannot be found". I don't know what (if anything) this means, but maybe some of the experts can find this useful."There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Some of us leave the ads up on purpose. I even click through on them sometimes. It generates revenue for the site and keeps it going. I can see the ads again, and the double click is gone (again)."There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." davjohns 1 #17 June 27, 2010 Mine is doing it too. It happened a while back. Someone modified the site. It quit. Now, it's doing it again. I have pop ups blocked. No change.I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
