Have you thought about "regular 'ol LE jobs?" Even in a down economy, more officers are desperately needed and are being hired by many agencies. Drop a PM if you want some info. Not just HPD, but places like Missouri City have good starting pay, will put you through the academy and have good benefits.

I have thought about LEO jobs, but I dont know if its for me. I'm DAMN good at my current job, and I would be leaving something I know and love to do, for something that could be fun, or could get me killed.
Im not sure that I explained it very well, but its like leaving something you love to do and are good at, for the unknown, which you may or may not like.

I can empathize. Well, if you're interested at all, even remotely, contact a couple of agencies that seem OK to you and ask to conduct a ride along. You'll be able to see what real cop work is like, instead of the BS that is put on TV. Even shows like "Cops" severely skews what really occurs.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure FERS won't either. FERS basically replaced CSRS for all the "newer" hires. But I haven't really looked at the benefits too closely, with only 9 years in civil service I'm still a looooooooong way from retirement.

I dont mind working past 40... atleast I wont hate my job, and if I do, I can get a different one.
My boss has REALLY put me over the top, and only 30 mins prior he was telling me that I need to go to WOCS.
I know, hes just one person, and after this deployment, I wont work for him long either way... but then theres the next guy who could be better, could be worse.
Besides, these deployments are REALLY cutting into my jumping

How many years have you put in? I put 22 years on active duty and hate the civie side everyday I have to go to "work"........

Im simply tired of the whole 'I out rank you, fuck you!' attitude. I have to just suck it up. Im at about 5 1/2 years now, a little over 4 in this unit, on my 5th overseas 'trip'. ETS'ing with 6 years active duty.
I love WHAT I DO, not who I do it for. Satellite communications is not a common skillset, and I can work everything from the reflector to the end users mouse/phone, yet they just want to keep fucking with me. Its not for me anymore.

Im an E-5 with a 1-1 NCOER, they took my 3 soldiers (one of which just won best soldier of the month) and put them under someone else so they could NOT do thier job, leaving me the only one in the BN that does it...
I just am tired of my senior NCOs taking advantage of their rank, and fucking with us... I know its probably just my unit, but its a bad taste in my mouth about the army.

What about a transfer, or retraining into a different MOS? Or going the officer route? Or fuck, changing services? We did have the better food, billets, on-base housing, and FUN! I dont want to be an officer, that would take me away from the work and put me more in the paperwork, retraining in a different MOS is possible, but I cant think of anything else I would want to do for the military.
My unit is just using me, they've taken just about every chance they could to screw me over in one way or another, not letting me go to schools, NOT LETTING ME LEAVE (they have the ability to keep my ass firmly planted right here, except they cant stop me from ETS), just gotta keep going, or get in trouble for malingering.

SPAWAR is, I don't know, some quasi government group, what they do in Charleston is mostly Navy and Army stuff
we have almost zero snow, 5-10 days of freezing weather a year
I know what they do
They're a Navy subcomponent, but provide alot of the communications assets that are deployed all over the world. They support us pretty damn well, and hell, I already know the systems!
