My first jumpsuit

Recommended Posts

I need some help. I am on jump 49 and I have been borrowing my boyfriend's jumpsuit and am looking to buy a new one. I have been to a bunch of websites, and read reviews for a number of suits here on dz.com, but I am still trying to figure out what to buy.

I am between the Bev Comp. suit, the Tony Swoop suit, Zute Sute, and Merlin suit, but I am not sure if I am looking at the right ones, or if I am missing some. I think I am just overwhelmed that I can't see any of them in person to decide (it is hard to shop this way.) Anyone have any suggestions for a first RW suit? Any suits to avoid?

Thanks for your help, and blue skies!

It isn't what it could be, or it what it should be, it is what it is.

I borrowed a friends Bev for nearly 75 jumps and three and a half hours in a tunnel. Very nice of him to loan it, huh. Really good suit... I can't find one thing negative to say about it...

You may want to look at Symbiosis suits out of the UK if you want something everyone else does not have... http://www.symbiosis.suits.btinternet.co.uk Call me weird, but I did not want a Bev because everyone else did have a Bev, I try to be a little unique without sacrificing quality. Even with the exchange rate, the pricing is not that bad. I am sure people online are gonna say it is not wise to buy something that might need alterations so far from home... But look at their reviews online here, they get the same comments you will find on the Bev suits from their owners…

I asked around when I started looking for the suits, and found you can't go wrong with Bev and Tony.... (But I jumped with a friend who had a Tony with extra thin grippers made out of a slippery material and I could not hold on with my gloves when the exits were a little rough… Cordura or larger grippers help, especially when exits are sometimes not perfect.)

Go to the dropzone. I'll bet there'll be a few RW suits there. ;)

I don't think you'll be unhappy with a suit from any of the three manufacturers you mention (or any of the other manufacturers out there either). The biggest piece of advice I can give is to get measured by and buy from a dealer - you'll be more likely to get the measurements correct, you can ask questions about that manufacturers suits of someone who should know wtf they are talking about and you'll have a local contact to work with should your suit come in not fitting. You can also call or email the manufacturers with questions.

Note that the Bev Comp and the Tony Swoop are not the same suit. Comp suits are tight fitting and fast falling despite the big "comp" grips and booties (both of which tend to slow a suit down) - best for lighter weight people (or bigger people who need to fall fast - ie competition RW jumpers). The Tony Swoop suit fits looser and is slower falling - not the right choice for a featherbutt but a good choice for a bigger person. The equivalent suit to the Bev Comp Suit from Tony would be the Pit Special.

For a womans body, I like Bev Hot Bod Suit or the Flite Suit Princess Cut. Merlin Suits will also rock your female figure! All three are great!

Some deciding factors to consider:

What does your local dealer carry? By using someone local you will be measured and have the customer service readily available.

What appeals to you style wise? Because after all, looking good is feeling good, and feeling good is flying good.... or something like that!
