Most realistic skydiving scene in a movie

Recommended Posts

Ok so the other night I was really baked and I decided to watch the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers movie. VHS!!! Annnyway, the skydiving scene in the beginning is probably the most realistic skydiving scene I've ever seen in a hollywood movie. Verrrrry little greenscreen; the majority of it is actual freefall footage. I just thought that was strange. Anybody seen it?

It is without a doubt the skydiving scene from Fandango

Absolutely. You know that was originally done as a documentary, right? :D

There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)

That's how I remember my early student training.;)
Your mileage may very however.

How about the bird-man scene in Gypsy Moths!?

You mean Burt Bouncewing?
I was laughing my ass off when we seen that in the theater while the rest of the people were freaking out.

Being a skydiver sorta puts a pox on you?

Was gonna say the same thing.

On the other hand, there is also the HALO jump scene from Tomorrow Never Dies, the Pierce Brosnan Bond film. Doesn't look like much greenscreen in that either, but who knows for sure.

Oh no... It's got to be Raquel Welch's skydiving scene in Fathom.

:P

Edited to add a link to her parachute packing scene, just because . . .

Nope, all parts of that jump were actually done, in bits and pieces. I think it took them 5 to 8 jumps to get all the footage they needed, and not all in the same location either.

You've piqued my interest. Plan to go down to Blockbuster this weekend and pickup the Blu-ray DVD. Hope it's not a two day rental.

I remember seeing that at a show when the kids were small, That was a GAF- Nomad from down under somehwere A friend got to jump one and said it was as slow as a Islander or C-206 type but it would be fun to add to the log book By the way check out "Beach Blanket Bingo" with Annette Fullof jello and Frankie Avalon. About mid 70,s. Also Rock Hudson in his police chief series. When he lands you can see the shadow of the hoop that drops the canopy around him while doing a stand-up on a rag
