Mark24688m 0 #1 February 7, 2008 Ok so the other night I was really baked and I decided to watch the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers movie. VHS!!! Annnyway, the skydiving scene in the beginning is probably the most realistic skydiving scene I've ever seen in a hollywood movie. Verrrrry little greenscreen; the majority of it is actual freefall footage. I just thought that was strange. Anybody seen it?
Gene03 0 #2 February 7, 2008 Not while I was baked. Can ya help out a brother there?“The only fool bigger than the person who knows it all is the person who argues with him. meltdown 0 #5 February 7, 2008 Haven't seen that, but the part in "Dropzone" where the door opens and the guy falls out, then gets hauled in by the chick in freefall was pretty realistic. I can't even count the number of times I've seen that happen in real life.
Taylor610 0 #6 February 7, 2008 There is no question here. It is without a doubt the skydiving scene from Fandango! Mr. Hicks, you have a major malfunction dude....
Andrewwhyte 1 #7 February 7, 2008 Firestorm. Howie Long jumps off the cliff with the girl and does a tandem base jump. No greenscreen used; they did it with the real cliff in the background. One take only. The stunt man went in; you can't get much more realistic than that.

I was laughing my ass off when we seen that in the theater while the rest of the people were freaking out. MrFreefall383 0 #14 February 7, 2008 Was gonna say the same thing. On the other hand, there is also the HALO jump scene from Tomorrow Never Dies, the Pierce Brosnan Bond film. Doesn't look like much greenscreen in that either, but who knows for sure."If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche

I think it took them 5 to 8 jumps to get all the footage they needed, and not all in the same location either."Mediocre people don't like high achievers, and high achievers don't like mediocre people." - SIX TIME National Champion coach Nick Saban

Vic flying head-down, tossing a spaceball back and forth between himself and star, on his AFF Level 3 is pretty damn realistic.
ZeG 0 #23 February 7, 2008 Oh sorry I guess i misunderstood that part, I thought it was about movies that use no CG and do alot with stuntpeople... but hey, since when are hollywood movies realistic
lekstrom10k 0 #24 February 7, 2008 I remember seeing that at a show when the kids were small, That was a GAF- Nomad from down under somehwere A friend got to jump one and said it was as slow as a Islander or C-206 type but it would be fun to add to the log book By the way check out "Beach Blanket Bingo" with Annette Fullof jello and Frankie Avalon. About mid 70,s. Also Rock Hudson in his police chief series. When he lands you can see the shadow of the hoop that drops the canopy around him while doing a stand-up on a rag
