grimmie 186 #1 July 16, 2010 As most of you know I run a boogie down in Belize each February. There is a little boy in Los Angeles right now awaiting a liver transplant. His family has no insurance and the hospital won't operate on him unless the family can raise $150,000. Baby Daniel is the Nephew of Dr. Danny, a great guy from San Pedro, Belize, that has patched up some skydivers at the boogie over the years for hardly anything in return. Please check this out and if you can help out and save his life, that would be wonderful. His little tiny body can't take much more and he will be dead in about a month or two if he doesn't get a transplant soon. If every person reading this sent in $5 it would give him a fighting chance. Thank you. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BiYJJUi3Uzk
LisaH 0 #2 July 16, 2010 I can't believe a hospital of that caliber is refusing to do this surgery. What a shame. Be yourself! MooOOooOoo

d_squared431 0 #4 July 16, 2010 I am sorry to hear about baby Daniel. I hate to be the downer here but just raising the money wont guarantee there is a match for a transplant. Then there is the after care. Who pays for that and medications if he is able to get the transplant?TPM Sister#130ONTIG#1 I love vodka.I love vodka cause it rhymes with Tuaca~LisaH You having a clean thought is like billyvance having a clean post.iluvtofly
grimmie 186 #5 July 17, 2010 There is a group of folks in Belize that will help with the ongoing care expense. But that's why we are raising money. Any bit helps, and they have have match for him. And Gypsy. You have never been to Belize. The doctors there work for pennies. Baby Daniel's Uncle has saved a lot of the jumpers at the boogie a lot of money by treating them for about $10 a visit. He saved one jumpers life that had a serious mishap.

d_squared431 0 #9 July 17, 2010 This might get moved to SC so sorry about it but this needs to be said. That is the reason the hospital will not cover the surgery. I am all for no matter who the person or where they are from getting proper medical care but I also get upset in situations like this. Many will read this as I am not compassionate or carrying but that is not the issue. Right now there is a rather large bill that the hospital is not going to get reimbursed for. Then the transplant takes place and the child and family move back to Belize leaving the rest of us to pay the bill. This is why those of us with insurance pay so much for our own health care. Then there are people who have insurance and pay everything but the insurance has a cap and now they are treated as if they have no insurance. They pay taxes their whole life and now they don't qualify for state aid because the state is having to pay for non US citizens medical bills. So this person loses everything and now becomes homeless or dies. For those of us who work in health care pay to get the education to work in the field and bust our ass daily. It is very frustrating due to the fact when the hospitals have to eat the 100 plus thousand dollar bill for each patient (non citizen or non insured US citizen)we only get 10 cent raises a yr or nothing at all. We work our asses off to care of everyone that comes in the doors. We cant feed, clothes, and survive if the hospital cant pay us for doing our jobs because they aren't getting paid. This isn't just a case of donate money to save a life. This is much more.TPM Sister#130ONTIG#1 I love vodka.I love vodka cause it rhymes with Tuaca~LisaH You having a clean thought is like billyvance having a clean post.iluvtofly
