Colm 1 #1 April 14, 2005 Since I wear a fairly strong eye prescription (Sphere ~ -2.5, Cyl ~ -1.0) I read with interest many of the helpful past threads about eyewear. I am trying to find a good pair of sunglasses and/or goggles for use with both skydiving and base jumping, so my two absolute needs are good peripheral vision and minimal distortion. unfortunately those can be competing characteristics. For me, a little distortion is more tolerable than obstructed vision. My questions to the SportRX wearers out there, if you have a strong prescription, are these: Do you notice any distortion past a -2.00 cylinder, and is the peripheral vision good in the up/down direction as well as the left/right direction? My question to other blind folks, is what other options have either worked or failed disasterously (or expensively)? Thanx...
beowulf 1 #2 April 14, 2005 I have a Bonehead Havok that I used for the last year or so. I had a lot of trouble with forward movement in a sitfly with it. I have now bought a sportrx goggles and jump an open face. I bought the G117 model and it seems to work great. I haven't had any problems. My forward movement is much easier with out the fullface helmet catching air.

OK this is my script. +6.50/-3.00 Right with 121 axis +6.75/-2.75 Left with 39 axis I wear SportRx G101s and they are GREAT. I also have a pair of wrapp scritped sunnies that I wear with my freefly helmet. PLUS I also have an Oxygn fullface that i wear my normal specs under. and last but not least I have a pair of flex goggles that will go over my glasses should the need arise. Basically I never want to be caught short. You are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky) My Life ROCKS! How's yours doing? bob.dino 1 #8 April 14, 2005 Why are you recommending Lasek rather than Lasik? To the best of my knowledge Lasek is primarily for the relatively small population of people not suitable for Lasik.

Sparky No Sparky none at all, my lid is not an O3 it's the original with the internal dytter pocket. I wear a Samll helmet too (pin head Squeak) I slide my specs on after I put my lid on, and close the visor at the half mile light, it's fantastic being able towear normal specs under a fullface. I jumped 400 jumps with an open face and the difference is amazingAs to the Lasek/Lasik my script is shot to shit and I'm at the start of presbiopia so lasik/sek is out of the question, paricularly due to the fact there is lower than average sucess with my script type. For what it's worth, here's been my experience with rX lenses... tried Silverfish's whistler model, but as advertised there is a lot of distortion above 2.00. and flying belly down it lets too much wind on my eyes. I'll keep that one in the surfing bag. I contacted WileyX about their XP-1, and they said that too would have a lot of distortion. Instead they recommended the XL-3, JP-2 or the SG-1 for strong prescriptions, neither of which appealed to me for various reasons. Maybe this info will be useful to someone some day...? Thanks for all the advice so far. If anyone else has any anything to add I'm all ears. Thanks Squeak, Sparky I was fortunate when I was at Z Hill in January, because I got a chance to try a few full face helmets on. We don't really have any here in Oz, and I was NOT buying one from OS only to find it wouldn't close properly with my specs.
