RALFFERS 0 #26 August 18, 2010 Quote Quote Sure, when you are running a retail or commercial business, yes +1 but,,,e-bay is a way for people to sell goofy shit one to one,,,,its used shit,,,,Dave in the above post hit it right on,,,,,does this onionhead get HBO for 90 days for punitive damages,,,,its an electronic garage sale for christ sake... Business is business, yard sale, retail, ebay. But see, eBay agrees with our friend here & will remove the [possible] negative feedback. Phil1111 1,149 #27 August 18, 2010 Don't be too concerned about a negative rating. I have 100% positive with over 700 feedback and am a "powerseller" etc., etc. Lots of business gets conducted by buyers and sellers with less than 100% positive feedback. In my experience about 2-3% of e-bay buyers and sellers are just out and out scam artists. What he is trying to do is called feedback extortion and is prohibited by e-bay. But like most things there, they won't do anything about it. Just go through the "claim" process. The buyer will have to pay for shipping back and you'll be out the cost of shipping to them. When the money is refunded the buyer no longer can leave negative feedback.
CarrieByTheSea 0 #28 August 18, 2010 I agree. To the OP, cut your losses and preserve your rating. While I love eBay for selling, I also have had great success on Craigslist for things I was nervous to ship (like electronics ). In fact, in my experience, I get more money from Craigslist buyers. Phil1111 1,149 #29 August 18, 2010 Quote He's got 24 feedback, all as buyer, all positive. He's left negative feedback twice as the buyer too. If he does I'll contact ebay and see if they'll remove it. It's shit like this that makes me not want to sell on ebay at all. If it's a small dollar item, it's not worth the time/effort, and if it's a large dollar item and this type of things comes up it's an even bigger pain in the ass. So that's about 8% negative on the deals that he's done! That says it all. No E-bay won't remove negative feedback. E-bay has a place. So do forums like these that have Classified sections, craigslist, etc.
skyjames 2 #30 August 19, 2010 Agree with almost all replies 'cept "business is business" and "give them the $$ back and let them keep it" You obviously are honest, why else would you be concerned or care? I have bought lots of stuff on ebay, from cameras to a paper shredder. I have 100% positive feedback even though I have left a down right mean feed back to a mega seller (electronics), went through the process and got my $$ back even though "no returns" was specified in the sellers lit. I posted feedback " I don't care what EBAY says about this seller, they SUCK"; all the seller could do is reply (after I got a full refund, and even then I had to pay return shipping of $28) ... "We try to help but some people are beyond help" I have worked out a solution with 2 sellers, we both were happy, never did I hold a threat over their head as a deal maker. Lots of horror stories about ebay are everywhere to be found, for sellers and buyers alike. In my opinion you have gone beyond being honest. Save ALL their emails! If and when they file a claim, their threat of bad feedback is powerful stuff. I know the emails I were sent from the seller won the case for me. I have had some of the best service and deals from sellers with less than a 100% pos rating. I always look at feedback before I buy. If you contact a seller (as I have) you will see not just a few ppl try the same shit, threat of neg feedback to pull a fast one. Don't fall for it. ... some people mistake KINDNESS for WEAKNESS! This post might sound like you are destined to lose ...NOT! EBAY does not like threats like that. CSpenceFLY 1 #31 August 19, 2010 For all you know there is nothing wrong with it and he is just trying to screw you. Is there any way to contact some of the people he has done business with?
airricks 0 #32 August 19, 2010 I'm sure I could contact the people he's left negative feedback for, not sure I'm going to go to that trouble though. I'm just leaving it as is. If he leaves negative feedback so be it, I'll contact ebay and see if they'll remove it. Even if they won't I can comment on it and move on. Honestly I'm tired of selling on ebay anyway so I won't really lose a lot of sleep over the negative feedback.

Which is why I will record serial numbers, as well as put those self-destruct warranty type stickers on any electronics I sell. I sold a brand new XM radio reciever (for computers/integrated vehicle radio systems) the buyer stated that it got there, and the package was torn open with nothing inside. I was up the river, had to refund the money back. Good thing I called XM and reported that radio as being stolen, so it cannot be activated.
