Jiggs 0 #1 April 14, 2005 Hi everyone, Has anyone had any experience with attempting to pack a 135 airlocked canopy into an OJK sized Odyssey. Before you ask yes - it is listed as sized for a 139 main (and yes I have emailed sunpath but it's been a few days and they have not responded yet). So is this doable or is it to much of a bastard to contemplate? I currently have my old Sabre150 in there at the moment. Or would I have to go with an airlocked 120 in order to fit it in? larsrulz 0 #2 April 14, 2005 I have no experience with an Odyssey or a 135 airlocked, but my Samurai (airlocked) 150 fits just fine into my mirage which is listed as "tight" for a Sabre 150. It is tight, but definitely not anything unreasonable. I put a pilot 140 in the container this past weekend, and I much prefer the tighter fit of my sam. I got a strong urge to fly, but I got no where to fly to. -PF
eUrNiCc 0 #3 April 14, 2005 I pack a Vengeance 120 (airlocked), into an NJ, sized for an airlocked 107 or conventional 120. it fits, but it's pretty tight, and it can be a pain to pack on cold, dry days.Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.
SCR10480 0 #4 April 14, 2005 I have a Vengeance 135 in a J-1 (one size bigger than OJ) and it's pretty snug. I suppose you might shoehorn a 135 into your OJ by getting a bag that's a bit larger, then squeeze the excess air out with the container flaps. Just a thought
crazydiver 0 #5 April 14, 2005 I had an airlocked 120 in an NJ also, which is sized one size smaller than the OJ. I have a friend with a samurai 136 and a PD 143 reserve (which has a huge pack volume) in an OJ. You will be fine. I guarantee it. Basically, an airlock packs up like a non airlocked of one size larger. So if a 150 fits, the 136 will. Cheers, Travis
verticalflyer 11 #6 April 14, 2005 QuoteHi everyone, Or would I have to go with an airlocked 120 in order to fit it in? What are your experiences? You should be able to get it in you may need to roll pack it, I use a roll packing for my Samurai for a tight pack job, but dont downsize your canopy simply because your first choice canopy does not fit in an OJ. If you not sure how to roll pack get someone to show you its very simple and I have used for the last 1000 jumps with no problems, I originally used it with a Stilleto 150 into an OJ. Hope that helps FraserDont just talk about it, Do it!
Stacy 0 #7 April 14, 2005 I had a new crispy sam136 in a TJN. It fit fine with no complaints from anyone who packed it.
Jiggs 0 #8 April 15, 2005 TJNK or TJNK.5? Also what reserve do you have in there? Edit to add: Verticalflyer - Am fairly indifferent between the 136 and 120, would prefer to go the 136 as after a few hundred jumps it can go to my better half. Not advocating anyone pick a main based on the size of their container."Don't blame malice for what stupidity can explain." verticalflyer 11 #9 April 15, 2005 No worries, thought I'd just point out the obvious as a lot of newbies read the forums also. Hope it all fits in sweet. Cheers FraserDont just talk about it, Do it!
